Missing Folders, Distribution Lists & Address books

Michael & Brian - your suggestions seem to have worked - thank you!!!!

When I clicked on Windows and then Cascade, the Folders box and the Address & Distribution box both appeared, but the addresses in the address box were all missing when I clicked on the addressbooks tab.  However, when I clicked on the "Distribution List" side of the box, and then clicked on the far right "addresses" that has a green horizontal arrow, a separate address box would pop up which had all my listings.   I took a couple of pics, and as uploading to photobucket, I closed out of Pegasus and reopened the Pegasus mail folder.............and all my addresses were where they were suppose to be.

I've trusted and been a believer in Pegasus mail for over a decade, never having a major problem until this past weekend.  It's a reminder that I need to keep copies or do a better job of backing things up.

Again, thanks for taking the time to review and help me with this.

My folders, distribution lists, address books and new mail inbox, all disappeared.

I clicked on the "open or manage address books" and the "edit or manage distribution (mailing) lists" and the boxes did not reappear. This would

always work in past if one of them was missing from screen; not this time.

I rebooted computer - still nothing.

I downloaded the new pmail 4.70 and updated; still nothing.

After closing and reopening the pegasus mail program several times, the "new mail folder box" re-appeared (can't explain why) with the 55 messages I had in it.  Therefore I'm hoping the others aren't lost forever as over 20,000 emails in each inbox and outbox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for posting suggestions or emailing me.

Thanks

Ron

All of the missing items you mention are maintained in the windows directory that serves as the mailbox.  I sounds like Pegasus Mail is now using a different mailbox.  This is normal when changing to a different Pegasus Mail user but should not happen on its own.  The part that doesn't make sense is why the new mail folder appeared with 55 existing messages in it.

In Pegasus Mail, go to Help > About Pegasus Mail then click the Info button.  Copy the entire contents of the Pegasus Mail information window then paste it into a reply so we can see what parameters and directory location Pegasus Mail is using.

 Here is what I found.

I have windows 7 on the laptop.

Yesterday, I also did a restore of the computer to a week ago; didn't seem to change anything.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Interesting development:  When I click "Edit" at Pegasus page top; then click "find text" and do a search of an item that would be in multiple emails; the Pegasus system searches thru each of the folders that disappeared, and the results are all emails from the missing folders.

Evidently, my folders are in fact there - just can't see them or am able to get Pegasus to display them.

Also, at the bottom right of the Pegasus window there is a mini blue triangle that says "open window bar" that I don't recall seeing in past 12-15 years of using Pegasus.  When I click on it the bar has  tabs for "folders", "new mail folder(# of messages), and "address books and distribution lists".  However none can be opened by clicking on them.

Click the Menu item Window => Cascade, does this bring more windows into the visible desktop area?
