Pegasus Mail will not run from the backup because the configuration files contain paths appropriate to the original installation.  I see two options. 

1.  Restore the entire \PMAIL directory from the backup to a hard drive or USB device then use the -roam switch in the command line to start Pegasus Mail.  The command line should look something like this:  drive:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS\WINPM-32.EXE -A -ROAM (add any other switches you normally used.

2.  In a different installation of Pegasus Mail, add the mailbox directory from the backup as an added mailbox.   You should then be able to see the entire contents of that mailbox and can manipulate the messages and folders just like any other.

My XP computer crashed a few months ago ( suddenly refused to boot) and a local expert is unable to gain access so far.

I have a backup made 5 months before the crash, using WD Acronis software.

Today I managed to gain access to the backup drive. In particular I wished to access my "memberships" folder in Pegasus so that I can get some programs to run. Serial / registration  numbers will be in there.

When I tried to run Pegasus on the backup drive it asked for my password. I had never used a password on this particular install of Pegasus; and all the combinations I was likely to use did not work. 

What suggestions do you have. This is being sent on a different computer.
