A couple of problems with Pegasus 4.70
Although that still doesn't explain why this version of the program is behaving like this.
Because David Harris modified the respective code, but he's also the only one who can answer your question. Like I said, he continues working on it, that's for sure ...

hello,

I just downloaded 4.70 (thank you David!!), and am having these two problems:

* more frequent crashes (crashes had almost disappeared with 4.63, but seem to be re-appearing with 4.70)

* in previous versions, you could continue working within the program (e.g. scrolling through messages, etc) while it was sending queued messages or downloading. Now, if you send queued mails, everything else in the program seems freezed, until the sending ends.

any suggestion wellcome

Claudio

Please read this post for dealing with crashes (you can skip any updates since you're already running the latest ones, but it would be helpful to get crash dumps like metioned in the third list section).

It should work exactly the other way around since the new POP/SMTP code does some kind of parallel processing as opposed to v4.63 ...

I also have the same problem with v4.70 freezing Pmail whenever it sends or receives mail.  Other programs are fine, but Pmail is not happy.

Everything was ok and this was not an issue in v4.6x.

Quite frustrating when you are typing an email and Pmail goes off to check for mail.

My machine is an i5 with 8GB RAM running Win7 Ultimate 64bit, so I'm pretty sure it's not because of hardware limitations.

Thanks,

Tom

I always had Pegasus Mail set up to do idle checks only to prevent any such issues. And if I need an immediate check I can still trigger it manually so I never missed anything. Aside from this: PM 4.7 is only another intermediate version on its way to 5.0 which is supposed to fix lots of such core issues.

That is how mine is set up too.  Checks every 90 sec, but when it is the program freezes.  As this wasn't an issue in v4.6x I'm seriously considering downgrading.  Not ideal.

You have checked the button for "on idle" (sorry - tried to translate from german) behind that, as IDW mentioned?

Is there an antivirus involved in POP3?

Anyway - you know that some mailproviders won't allow POP-checks in such a extrem short intervall? And your's?

bye   Olaf

Hi FJR,

Thanks for your reply.  The Idle box wasn't ticked, but it is now.  Although that still doesn't explain why this version of the program is behaving like this.
