Syntax error using distribution list

Thanks for the offer for help. I used that same dlist again yesterday
and received NO ERRORS! Maybe I did something when I was researching the problem or
maybe Pegasus is just feeling better, I don't know but it seems to work now. I'll reopen the
issue if the problem comes back.

Thanks for the offer for help. I used that same dlist again yesterday and received NO ERRORS! Maybe I did something when I was researching the problem or maybe Pegasus is just feeling better, I don't know but it seems to work now. I'll reopen the issue if the problem comes back.

I have a dist which contains 28 entries with the Name(alias) field from an address book. When I use that dlist I get a pair of "501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error" messages. There is no indication which entry(ies) has the syntax error. In fact I don't know if it is coming from the dlist syntax or the address book entry.

The exact content of the error(s) is:

Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following
reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail
relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error
501 5.5.2 RCPT TO syntax error

Your original mail message follows:
--------------------------------------------------------

...

I have scoured both the dlist and the addr book entries referenced by the alias and all appear correct. I have matched the dlist entry to a corresponding addr book entry thinking there may be a mismatch, but not so. I have even displayed the dlist with a hex display to make sure there wasn't just a cr/lf entry. I can't find the problem. Can someone suggest how I can tell which entry is producing the error?

(Using Pegasus 4.63, build 325)

Thanks.

Still hoping for some help with this issue. I haven't seen any activity on this post. Is there anyone out there that can help?

It is very difficult to diagnose the problem without examples. While I am not a world expert on email addresses, you could send me some/all lines from the distribution list, and I will take a look.  Mail them to irelam@telus.net
