Pegasus 4.70 Spell Check issue

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for responding to my post.

Understood. I can live with it.

Thanks again to all who helped out!

Hi,

I have a question regarding the spell check feature. It seems I cannot add words to the dictionary.  If there is an item (in my particular case the word trades' - I will press the button to add the item, it seemingly saves it in the dictionary, but on subsequent e-mail checks, the phrase still comes up when it should not.  After all, I added it to the dictionary.

I did have a second issue, but checking through the posts I found that the issue will be resolved in the next update.

Cheers,

Mike T.

You don't say which version of Pegasus Mail you are running but you make reference to another issue that you found was being worked on so I am going to assume v4.70.  In that version, when the spell checker is active you see a "Settings" tab.  In there you will see the list of words that makes up your personal dictionary so check for the word that you attempted to add, or part of the word.  I suggest to look for part of the work because a test I ran just now added as a word only the last three letters of the five letter word I was trying to add.  I also see the word "m" in my list which I am certain I did not add intentionally.

I have not seen this problem discussed so wonder if my experience is an anomaly or if we have identified a new problem.  Please post back with what you find.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for responding to my post.

The version of Pegasus is 4.70, as listed in the Subject area.  I checked the 'Settings' section as you suggested and found the word (trades' , as in 'Jack of all trades') listed several times, but the spell checker seems to highlight it regardless of it being in my custom dictionary.  I'm guessing that it is a hiccup of some type, as the prior version of Pegasus (4.63?) had no problem with it.

I'm open to any other suggestions.  Thanks again for your response.

Cheers,

Mike T.

When word has either beginning or ending single quote mark the spelling checker will always highlight/select as misspelled word. Apparently routine that parses words also can not distinguish between single quote and apostrophe when uses to indicate plural possessive. If you add selected word it is in fact added to user dictionary list but when used again it fails as if listed word is not seen or does not get recognized by checker due to the single quote mark included.
