Paste (special) does not insert http-links in message editor

[quote user="idw"]

Ok, Pegasus Mail appears to only accept formatted Rich Text (which IE creates automatically when coyping HTML to the clipboard). You can work around this by pasting the HTML into an OOo-Writer document, then copy the same stuff from OOo-Writer back to the clipboard which adds a Rich Text variant as well there that can be pasted into Pegasus Mail's TER editor leaving URLs intact.

OK. Thank you. That's doable, but somewhat cumbersome. :-)

Hi

I was replying to a mail, and I wanted to copy a paragraph from a webpage (or actually from an html-file on my HDD - opened in my Firefox-browser), but I couldn't get pmail to preserve the links/URLs in the paragraph, neither with Paste (Ctrl-V) nor with Paste special (Ctrl-Shift-V). So I had to re-create the links with the 'Insert a hyperlink'-icon. Quite cumbersome.

Why doesn't it work?

Actually I think it should work both with Ctrl-V and Ctrl-Shift-V.

(If I paste the paragraph into an OOo-Writer document the links still work.)

It does work (with both plain paste and formatted paste), at least for me, but it depends on which application you copy from: IE puts HTML on the clipboard while neither Firefox nor Opera do, IOW it only works with IE (since I don't use Safari or Chrome I can't tell about these) - so please don't blame Pegasus Mail unless you're sure it's the culprit. Do you have Always paste plain text ... enabled on Tools => Options => Message formatting?

As I have said, pasting the text (from Firefox) via the clipboard into for instance OOo-Writer works (the http-links are intact), so it is Pegasus that doesn't work.

The option "Always paste plain text ..." was enabled, so now I have disabled it, but that doesn't change the fact that the links are still 'destroyed' both with Ctrl-V and Ctrl-Shift-V.

I even closed Pegasus Mail and opened it again and checked that the option was still not ticked. So something is very wrong here. But what?

The only thing I can add is that I use a 'clipboard-enhancement' software called Ditto v. 3.18.46.00 that enables me to store a long list of clips.
