Cannot write email while downloading

General follow up....I have since downgraded back to v.4.63 and all is fine again.  I can easily compose a new email while downloads are in progress; or while Pegasus is checking for new mail, I can still open and close or delete messages.  Something in v.4.7 is preventing that from happening.

Hello--

I have v.4.7 running on Win. Vista Ultimate.  I have recently installed 4.7; I was using the previous version.  Now, whenever Pegasus looks for new mail or is in the process of downloading new mail, I cannot compose or open or delete anything.  The whole program hangs up; sometimes the Pegasus screen goes Vista white until the keystrokes catch up.  This is very annoying when I am in the middle of writing an email, which I do frequently, and then it goes to look for new mail and the cursor stops and I lose my train of thought.  Or if I go to delete spam messages, I cannot if at that moment Pegasus decides to look for and download new mail.

Why all of a sudden cannot Pegasus multitask?

 Thanks

Pegasus Mail could actually never "multitask", in fact David Harris is currently trying to implement it for v5. Go to Tools => Internet options => Receiving and enable "idle":

Thanks...I guess what I meant to say is that I have never had any problems with previous versions of Pegasus; I could always compose new mail, delete mail, or perform other tasks while the client was checking for mail or sending a message.  Now, I can't do anything while the system is engaged in checking or downloading new mail.

Checking off the idle box does not seem to solve anything for me (what is that supposed to do?).

Checking off, what does that mean? Checking the box enables idle checks, i.e. Pegasus Mail won't do any (automatic) mail checking while you're woking with it.

Sorry, I was unclear.  The idle box is checked off; always has been.  But it seems that its function is over-ridden by the setting in Options / General Settings / Advanced Settings, the 'refresh new mail folder view every X secs."  Under Internet Options, the setting is set to 0 secs and Idle box is checked.  Makes no difference; mail still comes through.

Thanks for your suggestions; still not sure why things are different after the v.4.7 download; I may go back to 4.6.
