Hi Joerg,
It's good to be corresponding with you again. As for the preview pane, the setting to remove the ribbon only removes the ribbon as I'm sure you noticed. You can now effectively hide the preview pane by grabbing the divider bar between the message list and the preview pane and dragging it down.
Based on your other posts I now understand that you are concerned about the auto-preview of potentially dangerous messages and that you understand users are pretty safe with remote graphics disabled. Knowing that, there probably isn't an advantage to hiding the preview pane.
