Downloading mail problems after update

If using selective download this shouldn't matter (screenshot below). Accessing the account via smart phone, IMAP or the web interface might cause issues, though.???

For many years I have used Pegasus mail successfuly on my desktop but a few days after updating Pegasus to WinPMail version: Version 4.70 (Win32), Feb 27 2014, build ID 546 I have noticed that some emails are not being picked up from my Virginmedia mailbox.

These are ones which should be collected easily as they are often following on from ones already downloaded so the question of Spam should not occur.

Naturally this is very worrying that I will miss some important replies etc and means I am having to log in to my Virginmedia account and check down the inbox list one by one.

Should I and can I go back to my earlier version of Pegasus, or are any tweaks (settings) I can try ? My only other alternative seems to be another email system.

I use  Selective POP3 Mail download and the missing email headers do not appear.  My computer operating system is Windows Vista.

I am not aware of anything in the upgrade that would affect this behavior and have not seen any other reports of what you are experiencing so do not believe that reverting to an earlier version will help.

Regarding the problem, unfortunately I do not use selective download so am not familiar with any idiosyncrasies associated with it.  The only thing that comes to mind is that messages are marked as read on the server causing Pegasus Mail to ignore them (assuming you have the download only unread messages option enabled).

This problem continues to bother me a lot and recently seems to have got worse. I have almost missed some important mails. It means that a couple of times every day I have to log on to my Mailbox at Virginmedia and check the Inbox mails one by one.

I cannot see where my Pegasus settings such as downloading headers only or downloading only unread mail.

I have been using Pegasus for many years without such problems before. They seemed to start just after the upgrade.

Any advice on settings please?

Settings are in the Receiving (POP3) host configurations accessed via

Tools > Internet options.  If you use multiple identities you also

need to pay attention to the "Checking multiple identities" section of

the Receiving (POP3) tab.

Have you identified whether some messages are being read via web access which marks them as read and prevents them from being offered to Pegasus Mail as unread messages?

You might consider testing with a configuration that downloads all mail rather than doing a selective download but you obviously wish to leave mail on the server and only want unread mail downloaded so the above question remains pertinent.

If you start downloading all mail you will want to give consideration to the Polling control setting located on the Receiving (POP3) tab.

Keep in mind that all of these settings are identity specific so need to be set for each identity.

Please may I join D Cakebread with this problem?

I have the same problem - I can't see where to set the "download only unread messages option" to "Download all" - I'm sure I'm being stupid but at least I'm not the only one...

I'm a very new user, trying to escape from Windows Live Mail; have just installed Pegasus for the first time: v4.7 build 546. Running under WIN7, 64-bit + lots of RAM etc

I think I may have clicked the Filter Icon in error when I'd

downloaded one message. I'm also trying to download ALL messages left on

the Server, and Pegasus seems to ignore 'Read' messages.

There is no such setting. Download Controls modifies the default. Leave it unchecked and all mail should be downloaded.

There is no setting for this. Download controls modifies the default. Leave it unchecked and all mail should be downloaded.
