unable to send mail

Thank you very much Brian.

I unchecked the box beside Use only SSLv3 and was able to send a test email successfully.

I will reset the timeout settings and continue to send emails.

I will report back again.

I have used Pegaus mail for years.

I have not been able to send email since Tuesday.

I am able to connect and receive mail with no problem.

I have not changed anything.

I was able to send mail one day but not the next.

The message I get is that there was an issue during the SSL handshake.

Any suggestions?

If you are not using v4.70 be advised that one of the major changes in v4.70 is the implementation of OpenSSL which eliminates SSL compatibility issues that arise in previous versions when providers update their SSL implementation.  Your provider may have just updates theirs so consider upgrading to Pegasus Mail v4.70.  Let us know if you are currently running v4.70 and we will suggest other troubleshooting steps.

I have been using V4.7 since it came out.

I was away from home for a couple of days.

I used the hotels WiFi to keep up to date on what was happening.

I had no issues while there.

The problem appears to have started when I returned home.

I have not changed any settings.

I have just tried my desk top computer and I am having the same issue.

I can receive mail but cannot send through Pegasus.

I am able to send mail using Microsoft's Outlook.

I live in Manitoba Canada and my internet provider has been using Microsoft to host the email service for about 4 years.

They are in the process of moving email hosting back to a local server.

They assure me that they have made no changes to the existing Microsoft service.

The tech that I spoke with had no clue how to assist me. He had not heard of Pegasus mail.

Here is the error message that I am getting.

Delivery has failed on the enclosed message for the following

reasons reported either by the mail delivery system on the mail

relay host or by the local TCP/IP transport module:

*** TCP/IP error while processing job ***

A network error has occurred while WinPMail attempted to send

your message. This error could be caused by many conditions,

including the following:

* The remote host may have gone down.

* Your network may have been broken or gone down.

* You may have a configuration problem in your WINSOCK.DLL.

* If running on a SLIP line, you may have experienced a

timeout (increase the value in WinPMail's Network Config.

Dialog), or the phone line may have gone down or suffered

from excessive line noise.

WinPMail will requeue your message and try again later.

There is a setting in the Security tab of the POP3 and SMTP hosts called "Use only SSLv3 (needed for Mercury v.74 and earlier servers)".  If it is enabled, disable it.  If it is disabled, enable it.  While in there check your timeout settings.  I have my default set at 300 and the hosts set at zero (0) which forces use of the default.

The default timeout setting is located in the General tab of  Tools > Internet Options.  The host timeout setting is located in the General tab of the POP3 and SMTP host configurations.

Test and report back.

I unchecked the box beside  Use only SSLv3 and was able to send a test email successfully.

I will  reset my time out settings also.
