I received a **Reindex this folder" message a few days ago. The folder had 500+ messages in it. After re-indexing it has 4, but the size was the ssame.

How can I make the "missing" messages visible again please.

I have run mbxmaint_ui.exe and that came up with the following  message: Found internal consistency error: #014 Location indicated in master file is out of bound

I am using version 4.0 Feb 2014 build 546 in win 8.1 fully updated

Still cannot solve this. I have tried all the solutions in Folder cannot be reindexed (fojtik's problem) but none of them work

 All the built-in checkers etc say Fixed no Problem, except Reindex, which tells me I mist close the folder - but I cannot seem to do that.

I really would appreciate some help

I have seen folders go bad (unable to reindex) but not in such a way as you describe.  Normal recovery of a bad folder is to move the messages to a new folder.  In your case I suggest copying the associated .PMM file then running NOTSPLIT on it.  This utility will extract all messages into individual messages files (extension .CNM file).  The files are extracted into the system %temp% directory which can make it challenging to round them all up but the end game is to get them all into one directory which you can add as an added mailbox in Pegasus Mail.  You will then be able to move the messages to a new Pegasus Mail folder. 

NOTSPLIT can be found in the Downloads area of this community (Downloads > add-ons > tools & utilities).

Post back if you need help with identifying the .PMM file associated with the problem folder or with adding a directory as an added mailbox.

Thanks Brian, that worked, I now have 348 CNM files in a seperate folder.

 I have yet to work out how to do the mail-box thing but I ave seen it mentioned ion the forum.

 The trickiest bits were the NOSPLIT interface jumping back to the menu after file selection with no apparent indication that the file name had been "received", and finding the .CNM files, which were (Windows 8.1) inc:/ users /my name/AppData/local/temp

Open the folder window and with it active, go to the Folder pull-down menu and select "Add mailbox to list...".  Select the directory option then enter a mailbox name and the path to that directory.  It will appear at the bottom of your folder list.

NOTSPLIT is a valuable utility but requires a bit of user effort to work with, as you found out.
