issue with [Sent] folder in IMAP profile at Gmail

I think that Google and Gmail are pretty much the same. If you have a Gmail account, i.e. <username>@gmail.com you also have a Google account, i.e. <username>@googlemail.com, where the username is the same in both.

Sorry my mistake, I should have said the mailbox name.

When you have your Gmail IMAP account open in Pmail click on the Mailbox name (top folder), it might not be called Gmail, its whatever you named it in the profile.then click on add in the toolbar.

Clicking on a tray will allow you to add a folder to the tray, clicking on a folder will allow you to add a folder at the same level or as a sub-folder to the selected folder.

Hello,

I've just installed Pegasus Mail and my first impression is very positive. However I have a serious issue using my Gmail postbox via IMAP protocol, that is I can not get a local copy of the folder (or, as they say at Gmail, "label") [Sent] at the server, also some other labels, say, [All Mail]. All those folders (labels) are simply absent in the folders list in my IMAP profile.

What may be wrong? I've read carefully Pegasus Mail manual and this forum, also I have reviewed every menu and dialog searching the option to subscribe for server folders manually, but have not found anything relative to my problem. However I assume, that there should be any solution, as I am not surely the first user of Pegasus mail, who has such issue with [Sent] folder at Gmail - and it is clear, that it is not possible to use a mail client without access to my sent messages.

 Thanks in advance for help!

Have you configured the labels to show in IMAP via the web interface?

Have you configured the labels to show in IMAP via the web interface?

Yes, I have. I should tell, that Pegasus is not my first nor the only mail client, I have used Thunderbird, MS Outlook and some other too for the long time, including these specific Gmail account. Pegasus is the only my mail client, which does not see folders/labels [Sent], [All mails] and some others in this postbox.

Do you have either option checked in folder list handling? (Performance tab)

Do you have either option checked in folder list handling? (Performance tab)

Do you mean the option: IMAP Profile => Performance => "Folder list handling"? Yes, I have tried them both. [Use fast folders listing command] gives me a bit more Gmail labels, than the other option [List only subsribed folders in the mailbox], say, [Receipts] and [Travel]. But it still does not give me the folder [Sent].

Please take a look at the screenshot.

I don't use IMAP but did a significant amount of testing on my Gmail account last night and was never able to get anything but the inbox to display.  On the Gmail end it looks like there is only one setting that should affect whether a folder is shown in IMAP so that seems pretty straightforward.  On the Pmail end I tried numerous combinations of settings without success. I then tested on my ZOHO account with the same results.  Both are in good company because my Outlook.com account behaves the same as well although on my Outlook.com configuration I could not find any settings that control access by IMAP.

Obviously I do not have any advise on how to fix this.

The screenshot shows no sub-folders for Gmail. If you don't already have a Gmail system "Sent" folder create one by sending am email from the web interface.

If you have one and it is selected to show in IMAP something is amiss.

Caisson, are you saying that you can see folders other than the Inbox when you IMAP to a Gmail mailbox?

Certainly. You should be able to see all folders that are identified as "Show in IMAP" in the "Labels" settings in the Gmail web interface.

I wonder what is different that allows you to see the folders while leopoldus and I can not.

I just tested with a different gmail account and again can not see any of the other folders even though several contain messages and all are set to show in IMAP.

As far as setting go, I do not have anything ticked in the Performance tab and in the Settings tab I only have the option ticked for moving to the Trash folder.  Security is via direct SSL with no certificate.

I just figured out out.  Content in the "Mailbox reference" field on the Connection tab of the IMAP profile will result in the Gmail folders not being displayed.  It needs to be blank.

My own is blank, as it was from the beginning by default:

I do have many messages in "Sent" folder of this postbox. As I have already noticed, I use other mail clients too, including this account for the long time.

Just wanted to try Pegasus Mail, but it seems by now, that Pegasus is not very good for IMAP, but it fits more using via POP3. Am I right?

Sorry, I'm not sure, what do you mean under " Gmail system "Sent" folder"... IMAP folder? Surely I do, as I've already stated before.

Or do you mean anything else?

Double check the 'Mailbox reference' field.  Even a space in there causes the folders not to display.  I suggest testing by creating a new IMAP profile with the following configuration.

Connection tab:  No content in the "Mailbox reference' field,

Settings tab:  Nothing ticked except for how you want deleted messages handled.

Performance tab:  Nothing ticked.

Security tab:  'Via direct SSL connect' is the only thing ticked .

Here is one more screenshot in order to answer your last question:

It looks like you have the Gmail system "Sent" labels active in both the system and created sections.

This post is relevant to your situation:

In the first instance try removing one or the other from "Show in IMAP" to see if the situation changes.
