Blind Copies no longer unseen

Thank you to each of you who responded to my post.  I plan to check out each of your suggestions - including one I never thought of (and have never used) - mail merge.   Thanks again.

Version 4.7 of Pegasus, which I've been using since it's release, is slowly starting to fall apart.  The latest issue is sending an email using the distribution list.  At one time, the only name that was visible to the recipients was mine (which is placed in both the "to" field and "reply to" field).  In the past many, many years, this is all that was ever displayed.  Now the entire list is visible.  (I also did a test, adding addresses to the "Blind C.C." box in the "Special" tab.  Same results.

Would re-installing Version 4.7 correct this (and other) problems - - or would going back to a previous version be the best option (and if this was done, would emails created/saved using version 4.7 still open in older versions??

I can not duplicate the problem.  Unfortunately, I do not know what could possibly happen that would cause both BCC and hidden dlist recipients to become visible.  Grasping at straws I would...

...test using a different SMTP server if you can

...confirm that the problem with visible dlist recipients is not list specific

...test with and without the "Suppress BCC field listings in outgoing mail" option enabled (located in Tools > Options > Outgoing Mail > Sending mail)

Hi Ted,

have a look at the file of the distributionlist. There should be something like that at the top:

\TITLE ...
\SENDER "..."  <do-not-reply-DL@wiso.tu-dortmund.de>

BCC-Field will be disabled in Pegasus in the configuration (sorry - have german Pegasus - so only translation) somewhere like "outgoing messages -> Sending Messages -> [x] supress BCC Addresses in outgoing messages. But this will only help in general for BCC field - doesn't solve the problem with the list.

Perhaps you create a completely new distributionlist and test with that. There must be something wrong with the entries in the lists file.

bye    Olaf

There are downsides to using distribution lists, one is that somewhere in the email header to recipient list will exist and depending on the client you use....

More seriously though depending on other factors you can find that lists over a certain size do not get out at all or that some clients block mailing where a list has been used if they do not like the look of them.

Might I suggest using mail merge instead true it can take longer to do a mail merge especially if there are attachments.  The big advantage is that each recipient gets and individual meaage that you can personalise and that as each message is a 'normal' 1 recipient email there is no limit to how mant addressess can be on your merge list.  Mail merge in Pegasus is easy and if you click on the merge tag in the message windows
