Hang Time to download new email

I experienced two sources of long delays, maybe it is not your case but it might be worth checking:

- my default printer was unreachable (a laptop moved from my office to my home),

- the MAIL folder was under antivirus scan (or maybe Windows indexing service, cannot remember now)

I have had Pegasus for over ten years, using 4.7 now with Windows 7.

When I download new mail, I always have to wait a minute or two for it to download and show, even for just one new message. This never happened before? Any suggestions? It is use to download in seconds before.

One thing to check is that your configuration is set to always load

Windows Internet Services.  That setting is in Tools  > Options >

General settings > Advanced settings.

FWIW, a hang during download of new mail has been commented on often with v4.7.  It seems that some folks experience it and others don't.  I do and it is noticeably worse on slow machines (old processors, low RAM) although I'm talking 15-20 seconds to check two mailboxes not 1-2 minutes (15 Mbps connection).  Obviously connection speed and message quantity/size also impact the amount of time the resources are tied up.

If you are indeed waiting 1-2 minutes and winsock is always loading then post back to see if anyone has any other suggestions because this sounds extreme for one message even for a slow machine on a slow connection.
