Names of folders in an installation

Problem apparently solved as a mess up due to latest Win 10 update. Going back to the recent restore point put things back in order.

I have already posted a message on the extreme slowness of Pegasus on my Win 10 64 bit system.  It begins to seem as if part of the problem is the new mail folder.  How do I recognize it in the windows file listing and what can I do with it? There is a list somewhere but I cannot lay my hands on it.  It occurs to me, is it the individual items given as .pmx?  I've checked a few of these with textpad, but there seem to be more in the in box as displayed than .pmx files.

New mail messages are stored as .cnm files.  We have seen corrupted .cnm files cause the loading of mail in the new mail folder to hang or to cause a crash but not a slow down, at least not yet.  You can try moving all .cnm files out of the mailbox directory then moving them back a few at a time testing as you go.  If you suddenly encounter the slow down then one of the files last batch of moved .cnm files is suspect so narrow it down from there.

You might find Han's Guide to Pegasus Mail Filenames and Extensions valuable for this kind of troubleshooting.  Find it at:

Thanks for that, which is what I thought I needed. I had actually identified them by looking at the alst modified dates on the files, and checking them with Textpad. Howewver, I was actually barking up the wrong tree because I had a filter running that shifted everything out of the new mail folder elsewhere whenever Pegasus was closed, and opening the new mail folder is still taking half an hour or so, not to mention the shorter time it takes to open a message!
