After forwarding a plain text message using v4.70 in the plain text mode, the recipient who uses MS Outlook 14.0 (2010) replied being unable to open the .PM$ file.  When I looked  at the BCC, I noticed that the forwarded message had been given a .PM$ extension, see screen shot snip.  Is this normal, a result of something in my setup, or other?

I've had complaints from people that messages have had attachments they could not open. When I checked there was nothing in the peculiar attachment that I needed them to know.  It was all in the plain text version.  Your screen shot shows two "attachments", both purporting to be plain text. I fancy the whole of your message is in the first one, and the other irrelevant.  Someone more expert could perhaps explain what the  other one was doing.

It may depend on the way you actually forwarded the original email. What was the "forwarding method" and "forwading settings"? It looks as if you used the "Start a new message with the messages attached" which let you add some new message but the original email (regardless if it was a plain text or something complex) was attached as that WPM...PM$.

To forward a simple text message, I would recommend either "Edit or make changes..." or "Forward the message without editing".
