Pegasus Mail Suggestions
Addons and plugin overview

I would like to have an overview of active addons (plugins) for Pmail in this forum.

Perhaps in form of a list of active addons with author, description, latest version and download reference to get it.
Or even with information not developed anymore but still working.
And the best would be if addons can be again hosted inside the forum.

At the moment there are several entries in the "Add-ons for Pegasus Mail" but most are obsolete, not working or have no download reference anymore.
My feeling was at least that nearly all addons are outdated, except IER. smile

Here's what we had until December 2019: https://web.archive.org/web/20191229152258/http://www3.telus.net/public/irelam/. For current versions send a message to <irelam17@SHAW.CA> (Martin Ireland) with a subject of send_[name of add-on without brackets]. The names of the add-ons can be looked up on the page linked to above (Martin Ireland needs to review this, so this is preliminary information so far).

We know that the add-ons that were being hosted on the previous forum site did not make it onto this one. Upload difficulties have been encountered by myself and Martin when trying to upload to this forum. Mine was overcome with help from Rolf, Martin's Daymove utility attempt remains as a blank post.

As it stands now, the PM-Win listserv list is the best source for add-ons. List members can share add-ons via email that are no longer available for download. Obviously there is a huge level of trust in doing that. A trusted repository here would be valuable. I think the first hurdle to overcome is to understand who can upload, how to upload, what can be uploaded (file types?), and what measures are in place to insure the integrity of uploads.

What is perhaps about github? Can't it be used to host your plugins or is the code nothing for "open source"?

I think the first hurdle to overcome is ...

... I'm afraid a maintainer: Rolf, Han and David appear to be the ones involved in administering most or even all of the public activities with regard to Pegasus Mail (I don't know any better), but I can't really imagine them to pick up this task as well, most of all not David. And it's something which requires certain appropriate skills.

Once again, where's the staff coming from for doing all this? Github accounts have to be maintained as well, take a look at the number of threads this forum already lists and try to figure out how many of these have been dealt with over the years, guess why ...

As I have read in codoforum, it seems that every file type need to be allowed in mime types and there are possible restrictions on upload size.

Since Martin doesn't seem to post it here I'm doing so now: Here's a link to his recent announcement of how to get a list for ordering any of the extensions he provides: https://community.pmail.com/index.php?u=/topic/11684/send-list-of-extensions-by-martin-ireland. I'm going to create a separate post for it as well in its proper place ...
