Sending emails from Hostmonster (Bluehost) SMTP account to gmail addresses disappear into the aether

This just cropped up recently. Pegasus says the e-mails are sent but they're not received and there's no bounce back message. I figured I'd ask here if anyone's encountered this problem.before trying to get Bluehost involved. There's nothing indicated in the pmail log. I CAN send to gmail addresses using gmail as the smtp server

Is the pmail log you mentioned a session log?

Looking at Bluehost's instructions, I found them to be pretty straightforward. However, they are ambiguous about which ports and security protocols to use, probably because they accept both. By default, an SMTP connection uses port 465 for SSL or port 587 for STARTTLS. They also accept port 26 without encryption. What are your parameters?

The pmail log I mentioned was System Messages. I'm not sure where and what a session log is.

I'm not sure where and what a session log is.
Session logs are a special logging process that show the entire exchange of information between Pegasus Mail and the servers to which it connects. It can be activated via Tools > Internet options... > [X] Create Internet session logs (advanced diagnostic use only). Please, read more about at PmHelp topic Using The Internet > Internet Session Logs.

In Pegasus you do Tools / Internet Mail Options
At bottom left is a check box to create internet log

Then your try to send/receive messages.
It will create files under the mail directory in TCPLogs.
Note they will have plain text passwords, so don't upload them without editing or removing lines with password.

Also, under Tools /Internet Mail options pop3 and smtp have options
under security. Which ones do you have set. Never /STLS / SLS

Never would only be used if using a Tunnel (I use Stunnel and Never).
The other two depend on provider, if one doesn't work, change setting and try again.

Look at logs are might be an issue in the log file that gives details.
Some ISPs just what your email name, others want you to user email name @ and host address.

There's nothing that stuck out in the session log. I contacted Bluehost and there appear to be some issues in DKIM and SPF config on their part. This should be resolved in the next few hours. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
