I have used PMail for over 30 years as a small bus. I really like Spambust as I can add to it with the latest smam topics. However, I installed PM 8.0 a few months ago and the Spambust soes not re-direct anything to the (Spam or Junk mail ) folder. I have enabled it and even replaced it with a spambust.dat file that worked in the past.

When I run the SYNTAX test I always get the same message that has been there without errors. The (EXPECTED WEIGHT, IF, IFNOT, AND OR ANDNOT) error.
nothing gets sorted or re-directed.
Any help apprecieated.

Nothing in this post makes sense. The current version of Pegasus Mail is 4.91. Its built-in anti-spam product is called Spamhalter. I am not aware of an add-on product called Spambust that works with it.

New I had seen spambust
From file spambust.dat (appears in PMAIL Directory) in a number of places
Was looking in help, but didn't really find anything about spambust but most is about spamhaulter. So just first part of it. Don't know if from before spamhaulter or what. I have it disabled on my system. But knew I had seen spambust.

could compare the file with the other in resource. Files like that can have a single typo that throws off the structure.

What are errors, and do they mention specific lines or words.

OK, I think I'm getting with the program now, that is if this discussion is about Content Control in which spambust.dat is the file that holds the processing rules.

FWIW, I have not seen any reports of Content Control not working in v4.80, v4.81, or v4.91. I don't use it so I don't think I can be of any help. The only thing I that comes to mind is to test it using the default spambust.dat file, a copy of which can be found in \Pmail\Programs\RESOURCE.

I agree with that.
Backup spambust.dat and restore the default one.
Then add blocks little at a time to find the exact line or lines that cause problem to return.

Could be a single bad line in the file.
Perhaps upload the file if it doesn't have any private info.

Did a quick look at my spambust.dat file.
Found a start thing on line 405
Has only UTF character in file has a line

But the i is not an ascii i, but is

UTF-8 encoding represents the lowercase letter í

Is in the one in resource as well, so wasn't something I added to it.
Could be something that windows now doesn't like?

I think we would have heard other requests for help if this were the case.

A thought I had while dreaming last night was to the action in Content Control. Since you are moving messages to a folder I suggest setting "Do this:" to "Move the message to a folder" then use the Set button to select the folder.

Wasn't saying it was that, but that it showed that non-ascii characters can be placed in the file, and if someone add other UTF8 characters into the file it might cause issues. There are 2, 3, and 4 byte UTF8 codes.

I tested several files all unedited. All the mail filtered through it comes through with none sent to junk mail or having the subject field edited in any way as it should.

My thought is that maybe files are sent using UTF8 or another type text. the words in English text and the code for the same word in UTF8 would be different.

I usually use this method because the trends change so fast and I can stop hundreds of spams in an hour Perhaps it has not worked for a while. I tried 4.80 , 4.81, and now 4.91.

I also replaced the spambust,dat file with multiple files that did work as far back as 2003.

Either PMail does not allow use of it anymore, or spammers have changed how text is sent. I am unable to find the issue. NOTE: I will survive this but I thought it never showed up online, and somehow there is an answer rven if it is it will not work anymore.

There have not been any reports that Content Control no longer works in any of the versions you mentioned (4.80, 4.81, 4.91). This may be rudimentary and obvious but please review the Content Control configuration tabs.

1. A content testing set is enabled and it applies to all mail.Note: Mine is disabled, obviously.

2. There is nothing unusual about the Exceptions tab settings. Normally "black.pml" and "white.pml" are the selected black and white list files. You might want to review their content with the Edit buttons.

3. The spambust.dat file is selected in the Message tests tab settings, and that you selected it using the Browse button and didn't just type the filename in.

4. The settings in the Action tab are as you want, and, if moving to a folder, that the folder showing in the Parameter field was selected by using the Set button.
