If setting up PM-PGP or PM-SMIME on new systems resp. new machines you may encounter problems with decrypting HTML message bodies encoded with PGP/MIME or S/MIME - and with the context help of both extensions' configuration dialog: This is due to the fact that all this requires an HTML converter module coming with certain versions of MS Office, MS Works, WordPad or the respective viewers only (i.e. it's not part of the native OS). I can most probably provide a fix within the forseeable future, I'm currently busy with setting up a Windows 7 system and an upgraded development environment.

No, it provides a completely different interface.
I will now await your notification of an upgrade to your program to include PGP 9.12 good luck with it.
Now I had enough time for installing version 9.12 to find out that , i.e. the latest version returns a value lower than the previous one when querying it for the SDK version. From what I can tell by comparing the sources there shouldn't be any other reason to fail. Unfortunately I can't test this on my machine as PGP 9.12 constantly crashes when trying to use PGPserv, so I had to revert to 9.10. I've implemented a different version check and can provide a test version (on request), but keep in mind that I can't currently test it myself.

I've just uploaded this version including sources and translation resources, any of these may be retrieved from the .

What's new:

 • Various decoding issues have been fixed.
 • Adding new entries to the AutoList has been fixed.
 • The tree view for displaying decoded S/MIME messages now allows selection of multiple branches (e.g. attachments) for saving them all at once.
 • As usual several other fixes and minor enhancements have been applied.

This issue will be fixed by my next update.
As solution I would think either to use the different sections Pmail uses for the different IDs and have separate configurations for the identities or a Autolist as for recipients. I think this depends on which solution is easier to implement.
I don't remember whether I already provided a test version for you, but it's always a good idea to check out the , so please tell us how it works for you now.

Michael,

Just picked your new package. This time it worked as expected, that is, it detected running Pegasus Mail, presented licensing, etc. Alas, I did get another error message:

As you may notice, it happened on "Configuring" stage. After clicking the dialog "OK" button, always showing the same error and addresses, it released itself from the loop and presented PMSM configuration pane, as seen below.
Thanks for reminding me of this one: Klaus reported it before but I erroneously attributed it to the (then) missing installer. I've fixed this now, there'll be another version soon including some more fixes and the Italian language resources.
I've uploaded version 1.1.1 today (although the Italian translations aren't finished yet), aside from fixing the above installation issue it fixes a certificate selection issue (some certificates wouldn't get listed) and provides pre-selection if no unique certificate can be found (for single recipient encryption only, of course). And if using the Display decryption certificate details option you'll get the encryption algorithm as well (3-DES is the only one supported for S/MIME via CAPICOM so far, but I expect AES to be added sooner or later). Hash algorithm options are currently limited as well: Only SHA-1 is available, that's why you can't change it like with my PGP extension.

No changes here. Just the good old PGP658ckt08 and your last plugin. It used to work flawlessly. I don't get PGPed messages that much, say a half dozen in one year. Very few pals are adept of message privacy as I am. Anyway, it was one of your messages that point me the flaw. No other clues besides recent SP3 installation.
Well, if you had replied earlier (do you have email notifications enabled for threads you're posting to? I believe it's the default, but I don't remember.) I would have provided you with the latest PM-PGP beta (I'm about to publish this version anyway quite soon, I just wanted to wait for finishing the S/MIME extension because working on it resulted in several enhancements for both of them).
BTW, I didn't get any notification of your post either. Just passing by while looking after your S/MIME add-on. Got it, but could not install it. I must have a gremlin someplace here. This is what I get:

This is a weird error: What exactly was going on when you got it? Doesn't look like one my extension emits, more like one caused by Inno Setup.

I talk about S/MIME Managing:

 S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) is a standard for

public key encryption and signing of email encapsulated in MIME. S/MIME

provides cryptographic security services for electronic messaging

applications, such as authentication, message integrity, and

non-repudiation of origin (using digital signatures) and privacy and

data security (using encryption). S/MIME features are supported for

select Motorola handhelds.

This guide assumes that your Exchange environment is configured for

S/MIME and that you are conversant with S/MIME and its uses in your

Exchange installation, or that your PKI (Public Key Infrastructure)

administrator or Certificate Authority administrator will be available

to provide information to assure that you configure Good Messaging

correctly.

After finishing the basic S/MIME implementation I've now started to create the interface and customize my PGP extension for dealing with the new S/MIME module. Although I've kept modules pretty separated in the PGP extension this will nevertheless take some time before I can provide a first beta version.

Ah, a fellow Delphi programmer...! I noticed in another context that Mercury includes the CryptLib library, and that there is a Delphi interface for it here:

Not sure if that could be of any use for you, but it would at least be independant of any Microsoft version problems.

/Rolf
It's actually delivered with Pegasus Mail as well, but I don't want to use it for several reasons:

1. I'm already using the CryptoAPI in my PGP extension, so I'm a bit familiar with it.

2. CryptLib doesn't provide any user interface and especially no convenient key/certificate management tools.

3. People switching from any kind of "Windows Mail" may already be accustomed to using the built-in user interface and "certificate store".

4. There is a CAPICOM interface for Delphi as well (you need to use the TLIBIMP tool to extract it), so that's not the main issue (except for a couple of fixes required), it's just getting accustomed to new interfaces no matter which one. And like I said, CAPICOM solves the version issues.

FYI: I'm currently writing a Pegasus Mail extension using Windows' built-in Crypto API. While the basic functionality is available on all Windows versions if at least IE 3.02 is installed (NT based systems since fully patched NT 4 provide it by default), a graphical user interface is only fully developed since XP.

As I cannot provide reliable estimations of when the extension will be available here's at least my outline:

 1. write the basic routines, partly done except for some customizing and the certificate/key management;
 2. provide a test version based on the XP user interface and "reusing" my PGP extension;
 3. customize the interface for being usable with older Windows versions;
 4. refining it to become as convenient as my PGP extension.

Watch this space if you're interested in testing and further development.
