If it's possible to confirm it's a reverse DNS issue you could ask your ISP to change the record for your IP address, which they quite likely would do for a business client. (At least for a fee.)

It's quite possible, unless all the users also Cc:  or Bcc: the original mailbox so that others see that the message has been processed.  If this though is a help line I've not found that a user complains about too much help. ;-)

FWIW, the delete (expunge) IMAP4 function does not happen on the server until all users are disconnected.  You might want to go to POP3 here instead of IMAP4 so that mail is downloaded an processed and not available to other members of the team.

That said, I would use a mailing list as the mailing address.  All the members of the support group as members of the list so all get the mail.  All replies go both to the sender and the list so members of the list know that the message has been processed and more importantly, how it was processed.

I really like using PMail for this since it's "Glossary" function allows the use of pre-planned responses to common questions.  All users can copy a glossary.pm to their account so that they could be using pre-approved replies.  ;-)

An always filter for incoming and outgoing mail that forwards a copy of the mail to a common account provides an archive of all mail transactions.  You can trigger this one on the specific address of the account so that everything addressed to the account is available in one place.

Not currently as it is designed only as a temporary block.

Go to Mercury/32 and open Configuration | Mercury core and look at what you have entered for "Internet name for this system"  Normally you would enter that.  You can also just enter the IP address of the system running Mercury/32.

David Harris has implemented ESMTP AUTH CRAM-MD5 for MercuryS.  It does a SMTP authentication in accordance with RFCs 2554 and 2195.  It will also do the LOGIN and the strange MS AUTH=LOGIN.

In this case look at what you have set in Configuration | MercuryS | Connection control.  It should be using SMTP authorization and is so there will be a file with the authorized file name.  In the case of incoming mail though the authentication is not really required, it's only used to ensure that you are not relaying mail off the server to other servers.

If there are too many bad logins then MercuryI will lock that IP out from further connections for 30 minutes.  If all of the connections are coming in from one IP address then you might want to edit the MercuryI connection control and set this IP address to be removed from the short term blacklisting.

 There are ways to send messages with in-line graphics.  If you send mail to walkingman@tstephenson.com you will be sending mail to an alias using the Tfile option.  This returns the following file c:\mercury\sendable\walkman.mer  I created this by sending a message with the inline graphic and took the 101 file in final form from the queue to create the template by modifying the Date:, From: and To: address. When received by an HTML mailer is shows the graphic in the message.  When received by a non-HTML mailer is show the text and the graphic as an attachment.

Hi Guys,

 I just tested telnet to port 25 again and it is working from external. I think that the issue could of been the fact that I changed the mx record to point directly to the mercury box. The records must not of been updated at the time i was testing the ports externally.

I'm using Mercury/32 4.72 as an IMAP server. At irregular intervals, but typically every one or two weeks, the folder hierarchy of one client is lost. The account with the problem uses Thunderbird and a mobile phone client called Profimail. There are 4 clients with nominally similar set-ups, but this only happens to one.

I can fix this by restoring a backup copy of hierarch.pm - but does anyone know what might be causing it?

It should make no difference to Mercury what program was used for SMTP delivery, assuming that RFC syntax was followed. The contents of the message sent by Outlook will presumably not be exactly the same as the one sent by Blat, though, and the program called by the policy may thus react differently to it. Mercury help says:

if a policy task crashes or hangs, Mercury will timeout after 90 seconds. In this case, Mercury treats the message as having passed the task's tests, and will allow it to be processed normally.

You could try using the MSendTo commandline mailer included with Mercury since version 4.61 as an alternative to Blat.

Just upgraded to Mercury 4.72  from 4.01 and noticed an improvement of the list web interface compared to 4.01

This post is maybe a bit biased, but wanted to give others some ideas what can be done with Mercury by spending some time and effort.

As I am hosting a few smaller & bigger mailinglists the need to integrate the webinterface into my existing website design is there. After some hours the final design was finished and MercuryB HTTP server is nice integrated into the overall website.

That seems to be consistent with what I have observed.  Unfortunately, Policy actions are rather limited.  The available "Forward to another user" is what seems to have caused trouble to me (I have just had to deal with deleting 4500 messages as a result of a mail loop).  Mercury has taken a while to clear the queue!  I must obviously be very careful when using the Policy Forward action.

Yes, you'll get multiple disclaimers since all messages will get the disclaimer each time it goes through Mercury.  Autoforwards, are the first ones that come to mind but anything forwarded without editing will get multiple disclaimers.  That's why the outbound filters were added.
