Delete the Mercury folder & rerun the installer.

Other than the Windows networking properties, Is there any way to specify the DNS servers that MercuryS uses, in particular for checking the RBLs listed in the Spam Control? 

I have three DNS servers listed in the Windows networking properties, and the third one has problems with RBLs, such that MercuryS times out for any good RBL addresses.  I need the 3rd server in the networking setup for other services that run on the Mercury box, so I don't won't to delete it from the networking properties.  I was hoping there was some way to accomplish this within MercuryS itself, like in MercuryE. I haven't looked at 4.71 yet, maybe it has this capability?

Ohhhh now I see what you guys are saying, Mercury is not adding the Date-header. Thank you for enlighting me!

Since this only happed once in the last 4-5 months, this is not a "huge" problem but I will look into the PHP script to see what I can do.

I have MercuryC configured to send to the relay by its IP name but the

managers of the relay are complaining that we only send to one machine.

I believe if you use the host name rather than the IP address  of the relay host it should get a different host each time.  That said, IIRC, it's up to the people running the multiple hosted system to rotate the connections to a specific host when there are multi-homed hosts.

In the distant past when we still used Mercury/NLM, we ran multiple

instances, but I can't find any way of doing that with MercuryC/32. 

Has anyone come across the same issue or a solution?

Not really necessary since MercuryC can make multiple connections to a specified relay host.  Personally I really like MercuryC.NLM (and still use it) so I can connect to multiple  SMTP hosts by running multiple instances of MercuryC.

To be honest, I can't answer promptly if you need to worry, though I'd say 90% no - you shouldn't worry. 

I need to know a little about your setup to track this down. I do have srvr 2008 and 64 bit in house, but haven't tested the native service in that environment.

Under what account do you run?

Do you use UNC paths or local drive letters for queue, mail store etc?

Do you have any daemons loaded at all, in effect - what does your daemons.ini look like?

Did you install with GUI interaction, if so - detach.

-- All that said, the only reason for Mercury to display a message would be either if you have gui interaction, or a daemon that displays something upon initialization.

How do you receive external mail? (SMTP via MercuryS, POP3 via MercuryD?...) What do the logs say?

Hi I'm using mercury for teaching purposes, and I need to add about 150 mail accounts. I could write a script to do it, its pretty straight foward (modify PMAIL.USR and create folders with a generic mail password file inside) but before i do that i would like to know if there is anything around that does it already.

the correct daemon.ini section is [daemons] and not [daemons global] as i configured erroneously

Probably you could getter better help asking a Wine newsgroup - anyway without knowing how you configured it it's very difficult to answer -  and what does not work? Does it start? It starts but crashes? It starts but you can't connect? Etc. etc...

May I ask why are you trying to get Mercury/32 - which is a Windows application - working in Wine, while Linux (and its siblings) has several excellet native mail servers available?

These are the entries I have in my local domains:

192.168.0.25 / amelia.oldrivercabinets.com
192.168.0.25 / amelia
192.168.0.25 [192.168.0.25]
192.168.0.25 [69.131.61.182]
192.168.0.25 [69.131.61.142]

Why the / in front of the domains?  This makes all mail to  anyuser@amelia.oldrivercabinets.com non-local mail.  BTW, when showing the domains it's best to simply post the [Domains] section of the mercury.ini file.

When a user logs in the program will count the number of messages in the Inbox and add up the size. If there are a lot of messages this could, depending on the speed and load of the server, take some time, but that should anyhow not be a very long time.

There is a slightly newer version of the program available in case that could help.

(If you double-click the log listbox to the right the contents will be copied to a file in the same directory as the program.)

I installed MercC SMTP on the local machine, and put in the ip address of the remote machine as the "Smart host name".
at the moment, the local MercC is saying: Error FF servicing queue job.  failed.

i tried sending a test message from the local Merc to a gmail account, no dice :(

If outbound port 25 is being blocked then you will have to send to an alternate port. If you are sending to the system that you set to accept mail on port 1152 then try doing a start | Run | telnet <ip_address of remote system> 1152 and see what happens.

 If you were to provide the actual host names and IP addresses of the two system it would help a lot.

I know this is an old post but to help anybody searching for possible solutions, I had the same problem and got the same error.

The error was as simple as the file PMAIL.USR in directory MAIL was deleted by any unknown reason. Just restored from a backup and everything went fine after reloading MERCURY. 

Happy 2017 and 2018 and 2019 and so on. 

I think that there is a problem with stucked job.....and I have deleted all the files from queue directory, now it seems to be ok. Thanks

The only thing I can think of is if you have more than one installation of Mercury on your computer. Make sure that WebRoot in http.ini indicates the right directory. Will require a restart if changed.
