Last night, Pegasus was able to log in to my host, AOL, with no problem. This morning, I am getting a login error indicating that my username or password are incorrect. Pegasus is doing the login, so there is no question that I may be typing it in incorrectly.

Not sure if the problem is with AOL or with Pegasus. Is there a newer version of Pegasus I may need to download?

Anyone else having this issue?

Pegasus is the main reason I stayed with windows this long but I have finally had it with windows. I am converting to Linux mint and I have been testing Pegasus 4.91 under Crossover. So far it works delightfully well - the only real problem is that I have to disable IERenderer, which crashes. I can't make a useful contribution to translating the crash other than to upload the dump file. If it can be made linux-friendly then Pegasus should have a whole new user base.

In the meantime, thanks to all who contribute to this best-of-internet program.

I have been using Pegasus for it seems 20 years. Just a week or two ago this started when I load Pegasus it takes maybe 30-60 seconds before it loads? Always was 5-10 seconds. Same computer, and I don't think anything is new? Can someone point me in a direction? I got Windows 11, lots of memory, and using 4.8

I just exited Pegasus and reloaded it and it was fast. So it seems only first start in AM or if program has been closed awhile?

This is a reminder to everyone who has or intends to update from 4.80 to 4.91 that the spell checker is fixed in 4.91. If you had set your USRDICT5.PMD file as read-only in 4.80 to workaround its spell checker bug you can/should remove that read-only attribute after upgrading to 4.91 to return the spell checker to its full functionality.

Running Pmail v.4.91.1746 on Windows 10 PC.
The following happens on two separate machines running the same set-up, one a laptop, one a desktop.

When sending SMTP [edited], Pegasus hangs (aqua ring, no functionality, not even X out) for a time period - momentary with small size messages, longer with bigger attachments. The short ones are tolerable, but when sending a 10MB attachment, the total message send time can be several minutes of PMail hung up (progress clocks in short bursts, not slow crawl). If I try to use PMail during the 'pauses', it grays out and starts acting locked up. But either way, eventually coughs out the email.

The interesting bit is it only happens sending via one host SMTP [edited] server (to which I recently switched one account).

I have a different host with which sending pop this does not happen.

I have worked with the problem host (he's a small shop and very hands on) and we are not finding anything in logs that explains what's going. His end just shows a really slow pop transfer with no messages from my end to hold, or of any issue. On my end each package transfer is recorded, just with inexplicable time gaps between them when it hits the large attachment email. Doing this live with the host on the phone watching logs his logs are showing his system is just waiting on me, no error or problem indicator from me, nor on his end indicating it's his system pausing things.

I'm not too technically experienced (but a quick learner), he is experienced, and from what we see it seems like there's a PMail program / code issue with something about transferring to his server (which PMail does not have with the other host).

Any ideas?

Hi all my first post. I am attempting to get pmail to save the last state of the in-box between sessions.
Currently when I close and reopen pmail it automatically sorts the inbox urgent first by date then the non urgent by date.
How do I get the inbox to stay in the same state "unsorted" I left it?
Thanks
Mark

When I try to send e-mails PM's window becomes "milky" and I have to close the program - the program became unresponsible and it has to be closed forcefully (I am asked by windows ...) .

Those "not sent" e-mails now line up (14 already) in some "!to-be-sent" queue and pegasus asks me each time at startup if I now want to send them.

But this does never work.

If I deny to send this e-mails (at the start of PM) I can get into PM and can retrieve and read e-mails as if nothing is wrong.

But "sending" just does not work anymore.

I remember I had this problem about 15+ years ago but I don't remember how I fixed it.

Can someone help?

I am not a hot shot tech, so if you answer do so in layman terms. I currently have 2 computers, and a Iphone 13. One computer is Windows 11 home 64 bit, the other Windows 7 32 bit.

Its all fairly stable now, except lately sometimes when I send I get Pegasus detected spam, and it won't send. I trick it by using the Forward command, and it usually sends out. This is new....

I am on Pegasus 4.8.1028 and I am afraid to upgrade to 4.91.

Will I create a nightmare? Is there a benefit?

I set up Pegasus to download my gmail archive and shortly thereafter experienced a drive failure prior to backing it up on my NAS. I've since reinstalled Pegasus and recovered what I believe to be the relevant directories from the damaged drive, but I don't see a way to import my old mail.

Ideally, I want to merge my old emails and my current emails. If that is not possible, how do I replace my current collection of emails with the larger one I recovered? My current installation's directory structure is different than the old one and so simply copying the old files over the new isn't the obvious secondary solution that I expected. The info button says my current mailbox is stored at "C:\Program Files (x86)\PMAIL\MAIL\Admin", but that directory is empty.

I have a gmail account for a long time that I can use without any problems. I just created another one that I needed. While I can log in on the gmail web site for the new email , I can't retrieve any email messages through Pegasus. The error I get is "Invalid username or password". I am using PMAIL v4.80. As far as I can tell, I configured the new PMAIL identity exactly the same as the old (except for the password, of course).

I seem to remember having to do something special with PMAIL a long time ago when gmail increased their security. Does that have to be done for each new gmail address?

Would installing v4.91 help? If so, please send installation instructions.

Thanks.

Hello everyone,

I'm currently trying to get the PM-PGP plugin working with Pegasus Mail 4.9.1. Gpg4win is installed and functioning properly, but since PM-PGP requires a classic PGP installation, I installed PGP Desktop 10.4. Didn't find an older version.

Unfortunately, the PM-PGP installer reports "Incorrect PGP version" and aborts. A manual installation of the plugin files also fails, as the PGP SDK Core Library appears to be missing.

Has anyone successfully used PM-PGP with newer PGP versions? Is there a way to bypass the version check or manually integrate the plugin?

Alternatively, does anyone have access to a working version of QDPGP that’s compatible with GnuPG from Gpg4win?

The links to QDPGP here are not working anymore.

Thanks in advance for any advice or workaround!

Best regards, Lothar.

Tried to use the auto create gmail account feature in Pegasus. I thought it was successful, but have this error and could use help fixing it; I'm somewhat out of my element here. For example, I've always thought of a POP3 transaction as an UPLOAD, not a DOWNLOAD; and a DOWNLOAD as an SMTP transaction??

-I have one other gmail account in Pegasus, and both seem to have identical settings; I can't find the error.

Thanks,

Hi,

I installed pmail v. 4.91, and it caused a change to the background color in folders. I used to have a white background in all previous versions of pmail, but this version has changed the background color to the light green I set in Windows 7.

How can I change it back to white?

It would be nice to have an option in pmail to change the background color to any color the user wants.

This color change occurs only where there is some text — where there is none, the background remains white, as shown in the attached screenshot (folders names removed, hence white there, too68fe2d3a43a3b
).

Hi,

OAUTH2 apparently stopped working today without any reason (I did not do any changes anywhere). It is not possible to download or send mails to/from gmail.

It says when downloading:

">> -ERR [AUTH] Invalid credentials."

and when sending:

"535 5.7.8 support.google.com/mail/?p=BadCredentials 5b1f17b1804b1-475de57b156sm73952115e9.13 - gsmtp"

I even upgraded to the latest 4.91 to solve the problem, but that did not help and caused new problems, which I will describe in a new message.

I hope that Google messed something up on Sunday and they will fix it themselves on Monday.

Have you got this problem today?

I am currently unable to send any emails. They all bounce back with the following message:
"451 4.3.2 Internal server error"

Receiving emails works as normal. I have phoned my ISP help desk (PlusNet) who have been no help whatsoever. They just say it will probably correct itself eventually!

I can send emails via their webmail without problem but not from Pegasus.

Could anybody advise whether this is actually a Pegasus problem or am I stuck with trying to get PlusNet to sort it please?

About 3 weeks ago I downloaded Pegasus Mail v4.91.1746 and updated my previous installation of v4.81-pb3 that I'd been running successfully and accessing my various GMail mailboxes using OAUTH2 without any significant issues since v4.81-pb3 was first released in approx Feb 2023.

Although I can't be absolutely certain about the timing, it seems to me that since I installed v4.91 I've regularly been getting POP3 errors when accessing my various GMail mailboxes; the following is the error message that typically appears:

15:00:40.520: << RETR 2
15:00:40.659: >> +OK message follows

The consequence of the POP3 errors is that the downloads of the 19 messages that are waiting on GMail never seem to complete successfully so the same messages appear again during the next download attempt.

My GMail mailboxes are all configured to archive the messages on GMail after they've been successfully downloaded by PMail; this always seemed to work perfectly well when I was running v4.81-pb3.

Has anyone else encountered any issues of this sort when accessing GMail mailboxes using PMail v4.91?

Thanks in advance,

Hello everyone, The time has come and my provider has switched emails to Outlook.office365. Now I have the problem that I can no longer access my mailbox via pmail. POP and IMAP are enabled for the mailbox, but I get the message ‘incorrect password or incorrect user’. Is this related to OAuth, and can I only use an alternative to pmail at the moment, or is there a way to regain access via pmail?

Settings:
Server: office.outlook365.com
POP Port: 995
SMTP: smtp.outlook365.com

I have updated the program to version 4.91.

Meanwhile the rest of the operation is not showing any problem, one specific folder, and one specific sender there, is hanging up the Pegasus when I try to open one of the email.
This is happening with all the email of this sender, even the old ones we have no problem to open when we had the 4.81 program.

I did various experiments and found the problem is in the IERender and the particular way these emails are formated. They only have an attach inside, with no text but have an empty HTML section

The empy HTML section is the one that produce the problem. If I simple edit the file and delete it, the email is opened with no problem

I simply solved the problem changing the render configuration to the BearHTML render, which seems not have problem with it.

I hope this helps someone
