just to confirm: I had a very similar problem. It was not possible to send mail from different identities.
The combination of new port, changing the security connection and using my user NUMBER rather than the name worked the miracle. I can send mail from two identities now. Yeah!
OK, folks, here's the next chapter. I went into my POP3 settings and unchecked the "Delete mail on server after it has been successfully retrieved" and changed the "Default action for messages still present after filtering" from "Download" to "Leave on server". I have an XP machine and did NOT reboot, which may explain the following behavior: I opened Pegasus and found that two messages, regardless of these settings, automatically downloaded to my New Messages folder. I then clicked "Selective mail download" and found those two messages AND a test email from my brother on the server. My explanation for this is that while the Pegasus settings did not reset (because I hadn't rebooted) the mail server did in fact do as I had asked -- and the messages stayed on the server. The reason that only two messages automatically were downloaded rather than THREE was that Pegasus again "ate" the copy of my brother's email that was downloaded. I have confirmed that all messages are still on the mail server. Next step is to reboot the computer to see if the automatic download will stop.
I still have no idea why Pegasus is eating those messages from my brother, but at least I know that the server is retaining them.
We're gonna need a little more info... OS, Pegasus version, previously working and just stopped? Did you confirm your mailserver password is correct? Can you access your email via webmail or other service?
After trying reboots and chkdsk runs - - I tried opening/closing the PMI files associated with the larger email folders (I'm not sure which folder is the Mailbox) - - the problem is gone !
There are consistency checks and repairs for all of the folders except the main mailbox/inbox. So I'm not sure what i did or could do differently - but it is OK for now.
That's very helpful. There were spaces after some entries. When I removed the space the entry worked as expected. There was no punctuation. Doe that have the same effect?
I suspect that it would (although I haven't tested it) - the auto-formatting is triggered when you type a space or punctuation after a word in your message.
You are changing it in the correct place so that's the good news. Figuring out why you can't authenticate is the challenge. If the only thing you changed is the password then I would think there is an incorrect password entered. Do you have web access to your e-mail? If so, can you access your email that way with your new password? If you can then I would once again check the password entered in Pegasus.
I believe that if you turn on session logging and then attempt a connection the resulting log file will contain in plain text the authentication credentials used during that connection attempt. Session logging can be enabled on the General tab Tools | Internet Options. Read the help file for details on how session logging works and how the log file(s) are saved. Don't forget to disable session logging when done troubleshooting.
If you find yourself receiving a lot of formatted mail you may want to set the default view to be the formatted version. To do this, enable the "Where a choice exists, display the fancy version" option located in Tools | Options | Incoming mail | Message reader.
You can still use the View option to change between the plain and formatted versions if you want and if the message contains both a plain text and a formatted (HTML) version).
Thanks for your effort in this regard. I don't know whether such additional quotation marks are allowed or not. But the style sheet definitions within our website don't contain question marks.
But anyway. It seems that this issue is originated at the senders e-mail client and not with Pmail.
I will observe this issue. As soon as I receive such html formatted e-mails also from other senders, I will contact you again.
I can't duplicate that behavior. In all of my tests the setting in Tools | Options | General settings | Basic settings remains set to Main Folder. This setting is identity specific so check the setting in all identities.

It seems to be a display bug. I've tested it and old mail goes to my selected default folder regardless of what folder appears to be designated. It's just off-putting, is all.
Belay that last message, Guy. It occurred to me that "elevated" might mean "open as administrator." I did that and got successes on the commands, and the address book now accepts changes. Thanks! I could never have figured any of that out on my own.
Excuse me for taking so long to get back to you on this issue. Have been checking all of the addies in my address book and found nothing out of the ordinary. All addresses are correct not any additional signs as you had suggested. Did note that one of the names had double quotes around a middle initia and did remove them. That is all that I could identify. NO, not using any "Recently used addresses" as far as I know, previously used addies were not supposed to be used. Did check for that selection and unckecked it, "Recently used addresses." Do not normally check that, do not remember checking it either, is now cleared.
Have not been able to do any testing to see if that has made the correction for that problem, yet. Will post back here when that is done, good or bad.
OK, problem solved, sort of. After looking at the session log, and not seeing a problem, I called my internet provider again. This time they checked a blacklisted site, and discovered their server is being blocked. They siad it would probably take a few days to get it un blocked. Thanks for everyone's help.
