In your mailbox folder, delete all files that are *.pmm and *.pmi The folders and their content will be gone.
That's what I did the first time I tried. But the folder and sub-folder names remain. And when I tried to delete them I was told that it cannot be done as they're not empty even though they were.

I need to get rid of the messages and the folders and sub-folders that contained them. I don't want to leave any work related emails (or relayed folders) on my netbook for security reasons. I'll take that risk when traveling. But for day-to-day use I prefer to not have it there

Backup before testing the below command liine executed at the mailbox directory.

DEL /Q *.CNM *.PMI *.PMM CACHE.PM FOLSTATE.PM HIERARCH.PM STATE.PMJ

Further update. A bit of googling has now enabled me to get POP3 email working[:)] Just a question of checking the "Disable certificate validation" box on the security tab.

Many thanks for all help

I sent a copy of the CNM to the address given.  The message displays properly in English with Thunderbird and various smart phone email clients.  Looking at the raw CNM with a programmers editor, I see no reason for any Korean chars to appear in the body of the message, the entire body appears to be wholly in English.  I tested with PM4.63 on a clean install of Windows XP and Windows 7-64 both fully patched with no other software installed or any default configuration changed, so if its a Windows config problem it came from Microsoft that way.

Thanks both,

I use a small photograph as a logo for business replies so need html (I think) for now I'm going to try a delete and reload of the software, maybe that will clear the glitches and then I can settle down to learn how to create templates at my leisure.

Thanks again for your help and interest.

Best wishes

Check out this thread:  http://community.pmail.com/forums/thread/7314.aspx

It's several years old but remains applicable.  Be sure to read to the end to see the option for using Unix formatted mail folders.

it's their server that is rejecting you and if they actually know what they are doing they should be able to tell you exactly why.  All we can do is guess but they should actually be able to give you a firm answer other than thunderbird works and pegasus doesn't therefor it is a pegasus problem.  Also saying webmail works therefore there is no problem makes no sense at all sense they are 2 completely different things.

With a new default install of winpm-32 one default user is created and the name of that user is Admin and what should be entered when it asks for logon or username. By defaulr install is to c:\pmail on drive and the default user path to mailbox is c:\pmail\mail\admin location. With new default install the executable and programs go into c:\pmail\programs location and other folders (subdirs) are below that.

If you copied any files from somewhere and put on the win7 drive or tried to run winpm-32 before running the v4.63 installer you may well have mucked up everything and old paths and old settings are being found by the installer. If former machine and install had things installed to proper c:\pmail then copy to new machine in whole would be ok but then run v4.63 installer next.

On start menu or with desktop icon to start  winpm-32 in addition the -I <user>  or -I Admin must be added to start program as the user Admin. If left off then it will prompt to enter username.
Well since I deleted most of the mesages in copies to self it was easy to drage the remainin g few into a new file.  Now however, I can't figure out how to delete the "copy to self" file.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
In Folder manager window right click on the folder and folder information and it will show the filename and other information too.

The question though, is why you feel it is necessary to delete the file. Copies to self is one of the default folders and has default functions. If necessary Delete and recreate can't you do so from the provided GUI in Folder manager?

Some things to consider...

1.  Make sure the \PMAIL folder is not anywhere inside of the \PROGRAM FILES folder.  Win7 tightly restricts access to files in \PROGRAM FILES which causes problems for Pegasus Mail.

2.  PCONFIG will not run on a 64 bit machine.  The recommended solution is to use DOSBOX (http://www.dosbox.com/) which may come in handy for other things.  I understand that you can also copy PCONFIG.EXE and PCONFIG.RSC to a temporary location on a 32 bit machine and run it there.  The resulting PMAIL.CFG  file and, if you set up a gateway the PMGATE.SYS file, can then be used on the 64 bit machine.

3.  My SMTP host only accepts connections from known ip addresses (their routers).  Make sure this is not the case for you.

4.  Enable the "Create Internet session logs"  option to see if they provide a clue.  Remember to disable this once you are done troubleshooting.  It is located in Tools > Internet Options > General tab.
Jerry, I checked that link and it doesn't exist anymore.

I used http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/pegasusmail/pf_pmfiles.html just minutes ago and it worked. Maybe extension on the file has changed as only difference was the extra letter on extension.
There are many free rename proggies around. Personally, I use Bulk Rename Utility.
Hi Steffan,

I think you may have misunderstood the issue.  Pmail only accepts .mbx files that have that ending, it then displays the ".mbx" suffix in the folder name.  Renaming my extensionless mbx files from TB allows them to be read by Pmail but I am looking for a way to automatically rename the folders within Pmail, not the .mbx file names.

Thanks again,

Boo

Greetings to everyone!

I would like to post a bug in version 4.63 of Pegasus Mail.

I faced the bug while working with IMAP folders (categories in terminology of GMail web interface) of my GMail accounts.

Pegasus Mail shows correct amount of messages inside IMAP folders in time while it gets content of IMAP account from the server first time or when I reset a folder cache manually.

But after clicking on folder it reduces amount of messages in the selected folder (some of messages become missed) and shows incomplete list of messages.

In system messages window of Pegasus Mail I can see the following:

Mon, 17:23:19    IMAP: UID 1 not found in header cache
Mon, 17:23:19    IMAP: UID 2 not found in header cache
Mon, 17:23:19    IMAP: UID 9 not found in header cache
Mon, 17:23:19    IMAP: UID 10 not found in header cache

All other email clients I have used for tests (Mozilla Thunderbird, Claws Mail, Novell Evolution, Balsa, Emacs Gnus, Zimbra, theBat) are showing correct content of these IMAP folders.

Many thanks for the comments. In fact the problem, which was as much of perception as of substance, seems to have been resolved by manipulating font sizes as well as line lengths. Pmail "out of the box", appears generally smaller on the screen than some other mail clients possibly because its default font sizes are rather small.

I am delighted to find that Pegasus continues to exist and thrive. I have returned to it because of the way it handles distribution lists, and the fact that Thuderbird's "automatic" self-configuration system makes it complicated to configure onto some web hosters and domains

Find file IERenderer.fff in the Pegasus Mail executables directory (ie c:\pmail)  Rename the file, for example as IERenderer.ffx. Then Restart Pegasus Mail. The button for IERenderer will be gone on the toolbar.  To reinstate IERenderer at a later time, just rename IERenderer.ffx back to IERenderer.fff and then restart Pegasus Mail.
