Do they open if you click on the 3rd button - Save and edit ?

<later> I've tried renaming a pdf to the name you mention but can't see any difference in behaviour.

Hello Osprey and Michael,

Sorry not to get back to you sooner.  In a busy law firm, I just don't have time to fiddle with software, and that's why I especially appreciate the help I've received from you and others who participate in user forums.

With regard to this thread, my original problem of multiple downloads has been solved, and by changing the settings I have been able to keep the "POP3 Network or Protocol Error" from reappearing except at lengthy intervals. So I consider the problem solved.

Many thanks for your willingness to help.  I'm sure I'll need help again, and I'm glad there are people smarter than I who stand ready to offer assistance!

Roland
Thanks very much for your reply.   I don't know how to get a total size of all the PMM files, there are 42 of them - too many to add up their individual sizes.  I may well have gone over the 2gb limit as I rarely find time to go through and delete emails that I no longer need, so I know some of the folders are very large.
No need to sum up file sizes, the 2 GB limit applies to single files.

2) this service is not very reliable

However many thank all people

In Pegasus Mail go to Help menu, commandline options which includes

Run control options
-A (no parameter)
Forces Pegasus Mail to run in standalone mode, ignoring any NetWare connection.
-ROAM  This option tells Pegasus Mail that it should ignore the configured drive letter when locating user mailboxes and mail files, and should instead use the drive letter of the drive from which WINPM-32.EXE was run. If Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories are located on the same physical drive, you should always use this option. -ROAM greatly simplifies running the program on Peer-to-Peer and non-NetWare networks, because it allows the same copy of the program tobe run no matter what drive letter mappings exist on the particular workstation where it runs. This switch also allows you to install a complete, working copy of Pegasus Mail, complete with mailboxes, onto a memory stick, and to use that memory stick in any computer where it is subsequently plugged. You must not use this switch if Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories cannot be accessed using the same drive letter. This switch is ignored and has no effect in either Novell NetWare operating mode.

and much more information.

Without some idea of exactly what Exchange is doing that's causing the problems, I can't even offer a diagnosis. I don't have access to an Exchange 2010 server, either, so there's no way I can look into this myself.

Pegasus Mail's IMAP support is fairly basic - it doesn't do anything very complicated, so it's hard to imagine what Exchange could be doing that could cause so many issues... That said, IMAP is incredibly dense, and there's bound to be plenty of things I've never anticipated.

If someone can get session logs showing the command/response sequences leading to problems like this, I'd be happy to look into it, but without pretty clear illustrations of what's going on, there's absolutely nothing I can do.

Cheers!
I move my old messages to a Folder.  At the end it advised to

re-index.  But after re-indexing, the folder is missing.
Did you get an error message when or after reindexing? If not you might try my suggestion from . Depending on the Pegasus Mail version you're using you might also try the mbxmaint_ui.exe tool from Pegasus Mail's program directory (it only exists in recent versions).

Michael. Many thanks for your reply. Ironically, the problem seems to have corrected itself. However, I will implement your suggestions if it re-occurs.

Eric.

There's also a settting that alows me to turn off the certification but leave the scan, which I have done (for now). I don't know how Pegasus processes the headers, or whether there's an opportunity to provide for things like this. At least the problem is identified, and options are pretty easy.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I guess my attempts will be to install Pegasus to a different location as soon as I get my own computer back (everything taking a while since it happened at work...). Then I'll try the things you mentioned. Really strange with the still appearing files...

In case nothing will work out, I'll come back to it. Thanks again! :)

Ah yes, it was that one I was thinking about; attaching it to a folder. I haven't used it, but I can see that it can very useful.

So I think one can definitely say that identities work and are very versatile. Heh, I've been using Pegasus so much and for such a long time that I don't know how other e-mail clients work if you want to change to another address and send a few mails then change back. Polling several accounts, yes, but sending; it works very well in Pegasus.

Since the topic is how to set up and use different email addresses, I would like to add that I can see that as one of the areas where Pegasus perhaps should have some "quick guide", or wizard etc. There is no lack of information; there is a wealth of information in the help file and manual, and elsewhere. The main "Identities" entry in help is very useful, and identities can be used for a lot of things but I guess it's used mostly for different addresses, then perhaps there should be some info: "Using more than one address? Here is how you do it."

Hi Michael,

Then I have no further ideas. Pmail is proper working in connection with Mercury. No any problems occured in past.

Maybe some specials to be observed when the user mailboxes are "outsourced" from Pmail folder to Mercury\Mail folder?

What other simple things I could check by editing the pegasus.ini (without changing the running system)?

Brgds

Joerg
I tried to set a wallpaper for a signature using both .gif and .jpg files.

In Edit Signature (Signature Set 1 - Internet Adderess, Formatted Content), on selecting the graphic file, the background is displayed properly.

But on saving the signature and opening a new mail, background does not appear.
If reopening the signature you just edited you'll find that the background image isn't permanently stored. I haven't checked the specs but it appears that the RTF format doesn't support background images as even OpenOffice didn't store a background image along with the RTF encoding, and as Pegasus Mail uses an RTF editor converting the encoding to HTML on delivery only there doesn't seem to be a way for achieving what you're looking for this way.

But maybe using a stationary message (or a template which would work for replies as well, never worked with this so I can't tell) could achieve what you're trying to do, you'd just have to remember using it whenever you want to include a backgound image.

Thanks, Aderoy - I will definetely adapt the backup storage time to a short interval ...I must confess, I never used Ctrl S when writing mails .. I always relied on the standard draft backup ... Nothing like the described loss happened before ...  But obviously nobody else has an idea, whether the draft is gone now forever or where I could look it up ---   Well, I guess, I have to start all over again & learn from that experience .. Thx all, tom

Hmm ... what problem do you have? Missing any description ...

I'm sure deleting CACHE.PM is not the answer.

Kind regards
