If I want to undelete messages, is it possible? My settings are to scrub the delete folder when I close Pmail.
It depends on where the message was stored: If in the new mail folder you could try a , but doing so after having continued to work on your computer makes it rather unlikely you'd be able to restore the deleted CNM-file as each file write operation after deletion raises the chance of overwriting the deleted file's data. If it was stored in a folder which hasn't been compressed after deletion you may try to reindex the folder which will bring back any deleted messages not yet "compressed" and probably reset flags on other messages.
Oh sorry I erased the error description. It displays: "Connection Time Out", even when it internet is ON and it has successfully downloaded the few. In the error window, after scrolling down it displays: "Socket Timed Out".
Increase the Timeout on Tools => Internet options => General and on the POP3/SMTP definitions for the respective connection.
That said, I tried "Selective Mail Download" from the Files menu, but it also crashed after 44 mail headers.
You didn't say it crashed in your first post, just that an error occured? And, BTW, that's one of the issues that selective download is for: If any single message causes Pegasus Mail to fail you can download only a couple of them manually to figure out which one causes trouble without Pegasus Mail reloading the same messages over and over again.
And an addition with regard to filtering: You may apply each filter manually to any folder via Tools => Mail filtering rules => Apply general rule set to folder after doing selective downloads.
And if you really encounter a crash: Please consider using my for providing debugging details for David Harris.
Thanks very much for your response. Coincidentially, I had found this post via a search and had just finished following it when I checked back here and found your message. It took care of my glitch quite nicely.
Thanks for your response before Christmas. I did what you suggested, found the HIERARCH.PM file, found a whole load of entries that were no longer required or simply wrong. While I was doing that, I had our IT helpdesk notified about the issue. Either through following your advice or by their efforts in the meantime (I prefer to think the former), when I came to launch Pegasus once more, everything was OK and I don't think I have lost any data at all. Sincere thanks for great help and advice.
> I want Pegasus Mail to start on system tray every time Windows starts. I am using Windows 7.
1. Modify the shortcut to open minimized.
2. Put the shortcut in the startup folder.
3. Use Tools | Options | Reporting/Logging | Hide the Pegasus Mail taskbar entry when minimized
When this control is checked, the regular Pegasus Mail button on the Windows taskbar will be hidden when the program is minimized, leaving only the system tray icon to indicate that it is running. Enabling this option saves space on the task bar, but means that you cannot use Alt+Tab to switch back to Pegasus Mail - you can only switch back by double-clicking the system tray icon. In addition clicking to the tray icon first brings it back to the taskbar and the second click brings it into the foreground.
The emails are all being filtered into a single folder as soon as they're received, and the attached files are all numbered serially: ABC0001.zip, ABC0002.zip, etc.
That's good. From the main menu go to 'Tools / Mail filtering rules' and then select 'Create/edit general rule set'. Create a new set and add rules. Use the 'Attachments' button to access the attachment handling.
Read the help, but you can specify a rule that will save the attachments using their exisiting names. Then apply that rule set to the whole folder.
Is it possible to use asterisk or question mark wildcards for further filtering out the attachments and copying them to a folder on another hard disk? I couldn't find anything about that.
Now I have set Load Windows Internet Services (WSOCK32.DLL) ... (on Tools => Options => Advanced settings) to Always and I have changed the browser option (on Tools => Options => Hyperlinks) from Find browser automatically to specifying the path to my Web Browser and I have increased the number of links that Pegasus marks in messages in Tools | Options | Hyperlinks | Highlight a maximum of x hyperlinks and everything seems to be working now.
It is as silly to say "my way is the only right way" as it is to say "your way is always wrong". Different people use programs differently and have greater or lesser needs. What would be better is to have an option to choose when the filtering happens, if possible. As you've already put this on the suggestion forum, it was pointless raising it here.
1. New Mail folder never closes. Email messages are delivered from your POP3 server to it. Then messages are distributed to various folders according to the rules you set up. Any messages not handled, are processed by the default rule and moved into the Pegasus Mail Default folder, see Menu: Tools/Options/General Settings/Basic settings --> Default folder
2. To create and use a subroutine:
In rules processing,
If you haven't already, add a rule "Always trigger "Action "Exit ruleset" to end main ruleset coding
Add a Label (with parameter set to a meaningful name to mark the start of subroutine)
Add multiple rules as required
Add rule Always Trigger action "Return from Call"
In your main rule add a rule "Always trigger" which has an Action of "Call" with the parameter set to the Label created above. You will need to use the big arrow (on the side) to move this Call statement above the "Exit ruleset" rule. The Pegasus Mail help system can explain in more detail how to do all this.
I do not know what is happening here. It might be that the local cache is messed up. Right click on the folder and clear the cache.

Hi Thomas,
I tried both "Refresh this Folder" and "Cache all messages" options on right-click menu, but no success.
My idea is to provide a single IMAP Profile(user) to which my family members will login from outlook and move their messages to, and then logging in to Pmail, create their own trays/folder structure as required and copy back all the moved messages.
> Help! My "Copies to self" folder has just vanished into thin air. There were copies in there that I needed to keep. Might it still > exist somewhere, hidden? Is there anything I can do to rescue the copies? I have just sent a new email and a new "Copies to self" > folder was created - but where are my missing copies?
I'm not at all sure what happened now that a new one was created. Use the search function (CTRL+F when in the folder listing) and look for a message that you know is in the copy self folder.
1. If you find it then the folder still exists but the hierarch.pm file has become corrupted and so the folder does not show up on the folder listing.
2. If the search does not find any message that you know is in the copy self folder then you'll have to revert to a backup.
> All help very gratefully received. Please keep it simple - I am very untechnical.
Try the following procedure. This has worked for several others to restore the functionality of the message folders by replacing the hierach.pm:
1. Use Help | About Pegasus Mail | Info to determine your mail directory. Exit Pegasus mail.
2. Rename the file HIERARCH.PM in your HOME mail directory to HIERARCH.SAV.
3. Run WinPMail. Your HIERARCH.PM will be re-created and should start working correctly.
Note: This will delete any tray structure you have created and it will have to be recreated. The process will not affect any mail of mail folders you have, it only affects the display of the folders.
Thanks, I recieved the sample message and have reviewed it. I can confirm the graphics problem. On looking at the source for the message, there appears to be some truncation and general corruptions. Things like www becoming just ww and various html tags being apparently mis-spelled.
I then notice that AVG version 11 is injecting lines into the message headers block, which indicates that someone in the sender to recipient chain is using real-time AVG email scanning. This is likely the problem. I would suggest that if it is you, then turn off/disable email scanning on AVG's config panel. It causes interference with Pegasus Mail extracting and preparing email message parts.
Just to clarify what Thomas said, assuming that you have managed to set up an HTML "formatted content" signature set, it will only be used if the message you send uses formatted content itself (bold text, coloured text, different fonts, etc) or the Rich Text tickbox near the subject line is ticked by your wife. Otherwise Pegasus thinks you are sending a plain text message and uses the basic version of the signature.
