What happens exactly when you send Mails over SMTP (push the send button) during the time when Pmail automatic checks identities over POP3 for new mails and some programm parts are frozen / not correct at work. Is there no possibility that during this situation the process of converting the mail in the send format can cause a problem.

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it and moved the three  WINPM**.PM files to the new netbook.  They now show up in the "MAIL" folder on the netbook, but when I start do a new email and look at the "Recently Used" list for an address, none of the addresses I thought I moved over are there.  What did I do wrong?
The files need to go in the same folder as all of your mail and addressbooks. In most Pegasus installations this will not be the Mail folder. You should find that the Mail folder has subfolders - one for each user of that installation of Pegasus. The default setup creates only one, called "Admin". Try moving the FUA file there.

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the delay in answering, I live in a remote Spanish mountain village and have been without phone lines for several days, still can't have everything I suppose.

I don't know whether this serves your purpose but you can queue your messages before sending them. Go to Tools | Internet options | Sending (SMTP) and make sure that the option of Sending mail immediately without placing in queue is not ticked.

Cheers!

I have the same problem with 4.52. I right-click on the message, select "Show pictures (HTML only)" and  gray boxes appear where the graphics should be. I have tried all of the various settings under options. Have had to revert back to 4.41 as this does not happen in that version. Using Windows XP.

Follow up: Found the solution that worked for me here: http://pmail.praktit.se/forums/thread/11497.aspx   and here: http://pmail.praktit.se/forums/thread/17991.aspx

I aways re-read my writings after posting them and in almost all cases have to correct something (if you could only see the "edit notes") ...

Hmm. I always re-read my postings for vanity's sake. I'm so self-obsessed. I am. Me. I'm the one who's obsessed with me. I scare me.

Thanks guys. I posted before seeing your replies.

I installed a clean copy of 4.52 in a new directory and just copied over the folder with all the data in it. Everything seems to be there. Meantime, the 4.41 installation to which I installed the 4.52 version seems to have swallowed its pride and is also running as it should. No data has been lost and nobody is asking me for user names anymore.

I think the problem may have been with my ISP. I have four machines running here all with Pegasus and the same ISP. The other three were running fine all along while this one got hung up with the 2745 error.

Excuse me, see there you are not the only one with this affliction, not understanding what is posted.  I did read that and remember doing it, just did not sink in to my thick head.  I am now investigating those links for more Help.

Again I thank you,

Thank you again for all of your patience and assistance.  I followed your instructions and was able to get the outgoing mail to work properly.  I very much appreciate your time and effort given in assisting me.

Hi Steffan,

thank you. Additionally I've found by reading the Pegasus-Help (Thanks David [:)]) that an environmet variable must or can be used to define the common "pml-directory".

PML="Path\dir\dir\..."

So it is not necessary to use the method with public folders.

The way I have used, and had success with, is close WinPMail. Then rename heirarch.pm to heirarch.pm.bak. Then restart WinPMail and all folder file pairs should be recognized again. Any tray structure, if you had any, will be gone and need to be recreated.

What I like to do, if all is well, just "in case" routinely save a .bak copy of heirarch, state and the pmail.ini files before they are needed. I go years at a time without ever having to restore anything, but if there is ever a problem I feel better knowing those .bak files are available.

It sounds like all that has happened is that your reply window has been shrunk.

Next time that window appears, instead of clicking maximise, try and hover your mouse over the edge of the window and drag it bigger. If I'm right, when it gets big enough you'll recognise that it is actually your reply window.

Somehow Pegasus has remembered a tiny setting for that window. After you resize it, Pegasus should remember the new setting.
Unintentionally I deleted my Main Folder (the aim was to delete one email in it). Is there any way I can my Main Folder back? Please help.
Try a , but it may already be too late: The best chance for getting files back (PMM files in this case in Pegasus Mail's mailbox directory) is immediately after deleting them preventing any other application including the system from overwriting it accidentally. You shouldn't even download and install the utility to the same device ...

Eshtaol,
Good to hear that you could solve the problem. Just as a side note. From your description I got the impression that your settings in the Windows Explorer may be such that you do not see all the extensions of files when you browse a folder? Maybe I am wrong but just in case. Windows always sets the defaults so that 'known' extensions are hidden - not very useful in my view. You may want to check and change. Open the Windows Explorer. Under Tools -> Folder options - >View, remove tick from "Hide extensions for known file types". If you are struggling with system problems you may as well select "Show hidden files and folders". Makes life much easier sometimes [;)]

I haven't really used it myself apart from testing. However, tick the box "Rich text" and then the icon "Insert a picture" and select "Add wallpaper". Add the image you want to use as a background wallpaper. Of course any message formatting and the sending of formatted messages should not be disabled under Tools-> Options - Message formatting.
Does it do the trick for you?
Cheers
Thomas

Your *overzealous* AV program is definitely detecting a false positive. Try disabling it before installing Pmail. Alternatively, set the AV program to prompt you on detection of a suspicious file and to ask you what you want to do.

Cheers!
