Your *overzealous* AV program is definitely detecting a false positive. Try disabling it before installing Pmail. Alternatively, set the AV program to prompt you on detection of a suspicious file and to ask you what you want to do.
Yes, it is. Instead of opening the attachment, you should select the attachment under the Attachments tab and click the Save&Edit button (or the Save button if you just want to save the attached file).
I believe Blackberry has proprietary standards, and that it won't sync up with Pegasus, or even talk to Mercury, to my knowledge?
If a Blackberry could export to tagged or tabbed files Pegasus Mail might be able to read them, see Pegasus Mail's help about importing and exporting addresses.
With hopes that gmail might change the format somehow, I tried changing my list mail to a gmail acct and then had gmail forward to my Pegasus acct. No luck with that so I ended up switching to Eudora and that worked. Maybe it will get changed in a future update.
This message means that the server you're trying to talk to doesn't recognise you as an allowed sender. This may be due to a number of possible scenarios, though I can think of no reason that would be caused purely by your recent copying-across of old Pegasus files. If the settings worked before, they should work now (unless, by the most unlucky of coincidences, your ISP changed its mail server settings while your Pegasus was out of action).
Perhaps you could post some actual detailed information about the settings you're trying (although don't give us your username or password!). We can check them for obvious errors and perhaps cross-check with the published ISP settings.
I copied the mail directory (yes I did make a back up of the existing file).
I clicked on the Pegasus short cut and voila all is back to "normal"
Don't you love how MS re interprets "standards".... one was under XP the world accepted the value of 0 for an IP lease to mean the lease did not expire .. MS gave it a 0 ie no time lease - found tha out the hard way.
The Next was for sharing on a MS network you now (win7) have to give a fully qualified user name ie \\domain\username to log into another PC but - now things are making sense (an AHA moment) if you log into a different machine to copy a file to a local drive you can't do it .... the AHA was that MS has virtualised the dorectories and will not let a "foreign user" even though it is you to copy files into the now virtualised directories.
I guess these interpretations are what keeps PC people employed [:D]
UPDATE: problem solved--the messages were open, but were in hyperspace. The pale blue banner made me try expanding the Pegasus window to full-screen (24" monitor--usually I have it set to take up about 1/2 the width and 2/3 the height), and there was the open message, far to the right.
The easiest way to fix such an issue is to use the Window menu's Tile or Cascade entries which should move such windows back into view. For other windows it might be required to modify the file STATE.PMJ, see for another sample.
I am using ver 4.52. I have the font for all outgoing messages set for Calibri 12pt. That font is applied as is desired except when I create a reply. In that case Calibri 10pt is used. I have combed through the pmail.ini file and tried to make sure all message editor and reader font specifications are Calibri 12pt.
Is there any command-line option or similar to make Pegasus Mail automatically fetch new mail from the server at startup?
Provided you're using a simple Pegasus Mail setup just make sure to open the new mail folder on startup (Tools => Options => Basic settings => General settings) and have download enabled on opening the new mail folder (Tools => Internet Options => Receiving => Polling controls).
After doing some additional investigation, I decided to try Novell Client 2 SP1 for Windows 7 (IR1) with caching enabled on the client late yesterday. It's still disabled on the server. At the end of the day today, I have not yet found any evidence of database corruption and I haven't seen any issues with Pegasus 4.52 using the latest client.
Well, until now I used Pmail under C:\Program Files (x86) without problem (I installed Win Vista 2 yaers ago or so), by giving Modify and Write permissions for MAIL subdirectory! Why now, with 4.52, it doesn't work anymore?
It's a compiler/linker issue (said someone who knows better): Since 4.52 has been compiled with a more recent version of the Visual C IDE it got "elevated" to claiming to be fully VISTA (and later) compliant which it actually isn't as it still writes user data to UAC protected directories if installed to a Program Files path. If it wouldn't claim the former Windows would simply "virtualize" these directories without anyone noticing (which happened with 4.51), now it just stops working properly without telling anyone what's going wrong: Security fighting usability, once again, unfortunately ... (both are important enough, of course!)
Some external mailservres will allow proxy on port 80 (http / web browsing) Fastmail & Gmail does look at their documents for instructions.
My current work will not allow any pop3/imap unless from preconfigured servers (internal only). This is not limited to Pegasus (Sylpheed, Mulberry & Alpine) all have the same problem. Proper firewalls for inside a corp network.
I am afraid you will have to wait. There is currently no program access to the foldering system within Pegasus Mail. But all is not lost. The new mailstore is coming soon, and it seems to offer more control to the user for folders.
