After Pegasus has been idle for a while with connection to a couple of IMAP folders, for one in particular I get the following error.

"The IMAP server that manages this mailbox or folder has reported an error during the operation you have attempted to perform.

The operation cannot be completed."

I am not actually doing anything. I have to reopen the folder.

However as I test I opened Betterbird on the same mailboxes and had it opened at the same time and had no such problem.

Any idea how I can avoid this occurring, it occurs most days if I have Pegasus open for any length of time on that folder.

Thanks

WinPMail version: Version v4.91.1746, 11 Aug 2025 18:19:07, build ID 1746

We recently updated our Pegasus installation from 4.81 to 4.91, and since then have encountered an issue. Where an email is forwarded to users in the same domain, it gets rejected by our mailserver service (Rackspace). The error message is:
user@company.com: host mx1.emailsrvr.com[xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx] said: 550 5.7.0
mime_banned_file - Your message has been rejected because it contains a
banned file attachment (G1B) (in reply to end of DATA command)

The original email was a few lines of text (a support query from a web-form), nothing fancy. Checking the email in the rejection message, it seems to have acquired an additional *.TMP file.

Forwarding the same email to other domains (gmail, Yahoo) seems to work normally, but again with the additional *.TMP file.

The setting in Tools->Options->Outgoing->Use MIME Features is set to On. When the setting Use MIME Features is set to OFF, these emails are sent as usual, but this causes other issues that make this fiddly/impractical.

Any thoughts/suggestions on resolving this?

With Pegasus mail v4.91.1746 (the latest released version) some emails appear with a blank subject in the new mail folder view.
When viewing the message the window title is also wrong for example

Pegasus Mail - [sender email, ??????????????7?????]

(the 7 amongst the ?'s is correct - the number of ?'s may be incorrect). Its also not always a "7"
The message view Subject line is correct - in this example its:

Subject: Your parcel has been delivered. How did we do?

In the raw view for this email the subject is shown as:

Subject: =?UTF8?Q?Your_parcel_has_been_delivered._How_did_we_do=3F=E2=80=8B?=

All the examples of this I quickly checked in my inbox all started

Subject: =?UTF-8?Q?

or

Subject: =?utf-8?Q?

These emails came from a number of different senders.

This did not happen the previous release of pmail (4.81)- and emails downloaded with that version appear correctly in my inbox even though they have a subject starting with the same string (=?utf-8?Q?).

I recently had a DNS attack on my email account (hundreds of emails sent). I have managed to delete all the messages and changed the passwords for incoming and outgoing messages. Everything appears to be back to normal. Except I keep getting the pop-up message......

POP3 Network or Protocol Error
etc....

As mentioned, it does not affect my ability to send or receive emails. It's just annoying.

Can anyone help

Thanks

On linux run certbot renew to check if certificate needs to be renewed. Does nothing if not due. The letsencrypt is only good for 3 months, and then needs renewal. pmail.com is still good, but community has expired. Haven't done on windows, so process might be different. Don't know if server has to be restarted after renewal.

Good for pmail.com

Greetings,

I updated to 4.91 and everything seems okay except the popup window for Spell Check does seem to show up when I start it. It does not sure up in Pmail's list of windows. (I am not sure it did before). It give no error. In fact, the first time I start it it seems to start and highlights the first suspicious word.

I do have multiple screens but it doesn't seem to show up on any screen.

With older versions it would show up on a different window at times or across two.

Thank you for any help/ideas. I am happy to try or do whatever I can to help resolve this. I have been using Pmail for decades and love it.

Being a Kiwi myself, I thought, Pegasus might be worth a try.
However, I got stuck with the address book. The mail provider I am using for years supports CardDAV (only) as a protocol. Is there any change to synchronize Pegasus Mail with the address book on the mail server? Grateful for every hint in this direction, as for me it will be absolutely essential to work with that remote address book!

I have gone into Tools->Options->Content Viewers and associated .vcs and .ics extensions to pmical.exe. When I get an email with an attachment with one of these extensions, clicking Open opens it with pmical.exe.

I receive many Teams invitations that have an attachment called Calendar that has no extension. The description given to it by Pegasus is "Calendar invitation or information".

I have tried adding to "content viewers" an 'Attachment type' information that matches "Calendar invitation or information" . I also tried this and added .ics as the extension for Temporary File Handling. This did not work.

Is there a way to get pmical.exe to open these files?

Hi all,
I want to convert to Pegasus from Postbox and want to know if there were any issues to be aware of from people who have done this. I have maintained complete email continuity since 1994 sticking only to email clients with human readable storage formats. So I am delighted to have learned about Pegasus, now that Postbox was bought and no longer maintained.

As I understand it, Postbox actually uses the mbox format so all I have to do is rename my Postbox files with a .mbx suffix and Pegasus will see, read and index them automatically.

I also have 2 primary email accounts with gmail, with one of them having 4 aliases/identities.

Hi

Can anybody help with SMTP servers for an IMAP account? I tried many times and got always the same error message, saying:
"The e-mail address you have entered does not contain an '@' symbol, which means that it is probably incorrect."

But as you can see at this screenshot actually there is a symbol @ in the address I entered. What's wrong?

Thanks!

My main email account is on Gmail. Starting on 8/29, I started to have a weird problem. When running PMAIL on my Windows computer, every time I download my new messages, I get multiple copies of the same messages, over and over again. It takes a lot of time to go through all of them and leave one copy to actually read. And then, the download does the same thing again. Again, the emails being retrieved are from 8/29 on.

I also use email on my Android mobile phone to retrieve the same messages, but the problem does not occur.

What is going on?

My Pegasus lived on a freenas window share with all my other files, videos, movies and so on.
I upgraded from freenas to truenas and also acquired drives with more storage.
Before doing anything, I backed the whole server up to a 10TB drive. everything, directory by directory, with verification.
removed old drives, installed new drives. Installed truenas. And got a new window share up and running.
I copied everything back to the new window share.

Before i started, Pegasus ran ok. After finishing, I got this message: User do not exists.

Is there any way to bulk enable/disable the hosts found in the pop3/smtp section of the tools/internet options section?

I have many in there that I need to temporarily disable/enable for testing.

You cannot shift select multiple entries in this list for a simple enable/disable. Clicking on each one individually is not ideal. The focus also does not go back to the entry after clicking the enable/disable button which could make life easier if you combined the keyboard arrows and a mouse click to achieve a quicker result.
