My friend uses PMail for about 18years, as a mere user smile.
She gets her mail using POP3 to Pegasus, using the setting "leave on server", to also enable reading her mail from the smartphone. Worked for many years.

Now somehow Pegasus seem to "have lost" the "last read counter value", meaning, when she calls for new headers, it grinds through > 5k mails. The latter is no problem in it self, but these mails represent about 8GB of data, so my suggestion, simply let it read all these mails new and delete the "unread", to get the counter right, is really only a last resort.

TL,DR: Can i, and how, set the value for POP3 last read message #?

The first column header in my SENT folder is always FROM, which of course is always my e-mail address, so I don't know for sure until I open the message who the message was sent to. I've searched the help section in Pegasus, but I can't find any way to change that first column header in the SENT folder from SENT to TO (the receiver of the e-mail I sent), or even how to add a "TO" column header.

I'm using IMAP (which has the SENT folder built in) and Pegasus version 4.73, Windows 10. On my phone app, the sent folder appropriately shows the first column as TO by default, unlike my Pegasus client on my computer. Is there a way that I'm overlooking whereby I can change that column to "TO" in Pegasus as well?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi All,

Just updated to Pegasus Mail 4.8 and have noticed that when I copy and paste text into a new plain text message (with all the Pegasus mail settings set to plain text, etc), the text still gets pasted in with the font type, size, etc, etc copied from.

This didnt use to happen with Peg 4.73 (or any previous version), as it would strip out the font, size, etc and just paste the plain text.

However when the message is sent, the received email does just consist of plain text, and the email in the sent folder is also just plain text.

Maybe just a graphical quirk? but if this could be fixed in the next update that would make things less confusing.

Many thanks

PS. When I had to register for this site, and received the email (in Pegasus Mail) to say that I had to confirm my email address, the link you have to visit isnt a hyperlink and I had to copy and paste it to get it to work!

I just switched to a newer PC - from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 PC - cannot post copied text into reply email without the html.

This is with the newest release of 4.8 1028. On the old PC, if I copied text from a website and pasted it into a reply email, it was pasted in plain text - not weird segments of html blocks.

I cant show you the page that I'm copying from, because it's a proprietary database, but I've been using it for years and things only changed when i switched PC's.

I've been suffering crashes of Pegasus Mail when processing messages in IMAP folders provided by some servers, in particular Microsoft's imap-mail.outlook.com. (I'm using port 993 and direct SSL connect.) Most operations work, but anything which involves deleting or moving a message is likely to provoke IMAP error pop-up windows or to crash Pegasus Mail, often after a few more clicks or commands on that mailbox rather than instantly.

I think I have found a difference between an IMAP server without problems and one with them. Here are snippets from some internet session logs saved by Pegasus Mail. (Unless you're David or one of the team trying to modify Pegasus Mail itself, you can stop reading now.)

This led to a crash of Pegasus:
A8 - copy the message to the Deleted folder (worked)
A9 - read the status of the message (worked)
A10 - set the message status to "deleted" (worked)
A11 - read the new current message
This has worked, but there's a response * 3 EXPUNGE which has surprised Pegasus and confused its state.
A12 - before A11's finished, this command starts to read another message
...then it all gets very confused, reading message header and content data and trying to interpret these as IMAP responses.

A similar command using a different mailbox didn't have the * <n> EXPUNGE response and caused Pegasus Mail no problems. Here's the equivalent snippet from the log file, for comparison. The equivalent of A11 in the first log is A7 in this one.

I hope this is some help to fix the problem. As far as I can tell, the response is allowed by the IMAP protocol during a UID FETCH command.

The problem's not new in version 4.80.

Am I about to lose access to my email with Pegasus mail, which I have happily used for years? (About to update from Pegasus 4.73 to 4.80) Please help if so!

I got this from Goggle:
On May 30, you may lose access to apps that are using less secure sign-in
technology

To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of
third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google
Account
using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in
using Sign in with Google

or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0. Learn more

What do you need to do?

Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to
your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other
email
software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google.

I just tested the global disabling of IER update notification by creating an ierenderer.ini file with UpdateNotification=NO as its only entry and placing it in the same directory as ierenderer.dll. I feel like I'm missing something because I expected a way to allow notification to specific user(s) but I don't find anything about that. I was also surprised to see that the IER 'auto update check' menu option still existed and could be toggled for the two users that I checked.

If I didn't miss anything then I think it would be beneficial if...

  1. The .ini contained another entry to allow notifications to listed Pegasus Mail user(s).
  2. When UpdateNotification=NO is set, the 'auto update check' menu item be hidden or changed to something like "Auto Update Check (admin disabled)" and greyed out to users not in the allowed list.

Whenever I try to forward an html message with the 'Edit or make changes' option set, the forwarded message loses all the images and replaces them with blank boxes. Whenever I need to do this I have to use another mail client such as Outlook. It has always been this way, but now that most emails come in html format it is a real inconvenience. I have scoured all the options with no success. Have I missed something?
Thanks in anticipation.

I am missing emails from a a 2-week period this month. I know this because I can see them in my online Google Workspace account. There are CNM files during that same period. Is there a connection? And can CNM file be converted to PMM & PMI files?

Some time ago, maybe due to some windows upgrade, the FIND text option stopped working.

Today, after installing 4.80, I tried again, just to check of something had changed.

The problem still persists, it shows no results, even when searching inside a single folder.

I suppouse this must be caused by some windows library change but cannot find which one.

Thanks in advance.

First - congrats and thanks Devs for the long-awaited update. Seems quite smooth.

Only one question - the font size in my Address Book is noticeably larger than in all other open windows. I thought somehow it was linked to one of the 3 wIndows settings in Fonts. Seems not. Maybe it is linked to Windows system fonts (I use similar fonts for both Windows and Pegasus - but even my Windows system font is smaller...Like 10 pt vs what looks like almost 16 pt in my Address Book.

Is anyone else having this issue and is there a simple fix?

It is a minor thing for sure. Thanks

As a long time user of Pegasus, and upgrading over the years, I've got files dated from 1993 in the 'Programs' folder.

I'd be interested to know if there was going to be an option in the upcoming v5 where the upgrade would end up with a 'clean' new v5 set of files with the personalised files copied over?

or whether it would be better to go for a new install?

Hi,
I use pmail since the very beginning. Recently I had to change my computer and I am now on a fresh install of Windows 10. There is a known problem in all modern OSes of that sort with the look of MDI windows. Does anybody happen to know any workaround? Pmail in the multiple window mode looks really ugly, displaying all the inner windows in "aerolite" theme instead of the selected system-wide theme. The active window controls look particularly out-of-place.

I know this s not strictly pmail issue, it is discussed for example here:
