I was reading that Pegasus mail could open .msg files.

This not only is the file extension which MS Outlook uses, but is also used by my ISP Sonic.net.

I found the reference here:

After the official Windows update to 24H2, whenever I try to MOVE or COPY a message to another folder upon clicking the MOVE or COPY (and possibly other icons) PMail completely freezes and I need to end it via taskmanager. This is reproducable.

Do others have that as well, is this known and do we have a work around for that?

FYI, I could not connect to either of my GMail accounts this morning using OAUTH2 due to reported invalid authentication credentials. My app password connection still worked. Revalidation of GMail OAUTH2 was required to fix the OAUTH2 issue. This has been a recurring issue for me (third time since creating OAUTH2 authentication).

Is there a way to set a different default font for messages other than Arial 10 pt?

Kudos for all the seriously hard work, and keep us informed in detail.

Just a thought - I have no idea if this would help, and AI is currently used for fixing or curing anything like faulty toothbrushes and saggy underwear, etc. But it does seem to be helpful in coding, at least by some, e.g. in going from C+ to Rust, etc. Whether it is transparent and auditable enough I cannot say. Which goes to the issue of does it really save time, net of learning curves etc.? David obviously knows what he is doing and what is the best use of his time. But might be worth a try, or at least a look and test?

Pegasus help says you can have a distribution list with thousands of names. I have a list of 1800 names that have all opted to receive monthly announcements from me. What would happen if I put them on a Distribution List and emailed the list? My isp is Pair Networks. I'd rather send them as merged emails to make them more personal and important. But 1800 of them at one time?

An hour before everything worked perfect with Pegasus v4.81
In between no software operation or action was done.

What is already done :

Is there a 'Black List' option in Pegasus whereby I can block emails from being received from some addresses, please? Recently, I have been inundated with unsolicited emails, mostly from the Far East, thinking I am some sort of engineering company! Thanks for any help.

I might be asking Pegasus to do something that is not possible but I would like to send mail from Pegasus to the SMTP server at Yahoo (converted from Cox) but have it show to the recipient as having come from my preferred gmail account. I thought I could do this by marking the "Use an alternate email address for the envelope" option in the SMTP General settings.

The alternate email option is not marked in the image above but when I do turn it on and try to send an email with that option on, I get the following error.

It appears to login successfully to my Cox (Yahoo) account but then comes up with the "Mailbox unavailable" error.

When I have the option set off, the mail is sent correctly but with my Cox email address as the sender.

Am I using this option incorrectly or is it even possible to do this in Pegasus?

Just went to check page, and got notice its security certificate has expired.

Wonder if anyone knows more about this? In my tests with outlook web site, it gave info on this, so I installed on phone.

Sometimes when I open outlook via browser, it has popped up with a message that it sent a code to my gmail, and have to check the code and enter it to get connected. Other times the authenticator beeps on phone, but web pages just opens with no code required.

Don't know if their might be a way to setup Pegasus with the authenticator? App doesn't show much info in its help?

I recently installed v4.8 DE ( Full international versions of Pegasus Mail
Completely translated versions, including the setup program from ) on a Win 11 host, since then AVIRA thinks winpm-32.exe is dangerous and puts in it to quarantine.

Thus to use PMAIL I have either to deactivate AVIRA Security program or to reinstall PMAIL every time I wish to use it.

Furthermore, I am quite sure I was able to start winpm-32.exe using a link an providing command line parameters (to use german language interface and become a certain user via -U switch immediately on startup). I already tried creating a winpm-32.bat file containing

winpm-32.exe -U <username> -X DE

but failed.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I just received an email from MS stating that I will no longer be able to retrieve my email after 09/16/24 due their discontinuance of "Basic Authentication". I have also read that there is little chance (due to complexity) of Pegasus Mail for Windows ever incorporating "Modern Authentication" for Microsoft. I have also read the author's take on it and respect his opinion.

BUT... now I'm in trouble. I have used Pegasus Mail for around 20 years. I utilize it for my filing tray, keeping records of both personal and financial exchanges. It is my "GoTo" when a question regarding the past arises. I DON'T want to abandon PM but I don't see how I can stay with it.

I notice that PM v4.81 with OAUTH2 for Google was never moved from Beta. I don't care for GMail and their "labels" anyway... I like "folders".

First, my heartfelt thanks to David for providing such a fantastic email client for so many years.

Second, I am in need of options at this point. I have PM folders containing 20 years of info that I'd like to keep. I ALSO wish to continue to RETRIEVE my mail and store it locally as opposed to keeping it on a cloud. Internet providers have all but abandoned email services... at least in my location.

All thought would be appreciated.

I have noticed on Task Manager on the PC that sends the faulty email "Unknown "From" and "None" Subject that there were TWO winpm-32 processes running with different PID's.

Closing Pegasus only resulted in ONE of the processes shutting down... was forced to kill the other.... maybe this is involved somehow. The server is the PC that receives the problem emails.

I have two email addresses and therefore two identities in Pegasus mail. Those two email addresses are also used in Gmail and for years I have been happily downloading from Gmail into Pegasus to deal with the mail and file it there.

But when I changed my email password on Gmail, it all stopped working. So I downloaded the new version 4.81 of Pegasus and found the handy Gmail button. This worked beautifully on one of my identities, I can download, send mail etc no problem. But the other one just does not work. This second identity appears to be missing the [Pegasus Mail for Windows - built in TCP/IP Mail] at the beginning of the PMAIL settings file for the specific identity.

The whole process wasn't helped by the fact that I seemed to have two copies of PMAIL, one in the C:/PMAIL directory (and this now holds the latest version of Pegasus), and one in the C:/PMAIL/Programs directory (which seems to have last been updated in 201.

So I would like to delete the old version of Pegasus in the Programs directory but I am nervous of losing settings. But also should I reinstall Pegasus as multi-user somehow?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

We have been using Pegasus for many years, and have always experienced the following problem. We are currently on 4.81.

We very often sort emails in a folder by date order (to see the most recent at the top). However emails are not sorted correctly. They often appear sorted correctly in chunks, but with multiple chunks so the most recent emails can be a long way down the list. We have large folders with thousands of emails in them, so when they aren't sorted correctly emails are hard to find.

Has anyone else experienced this, and if so do they know a fix or workaround?

We have tried Reindex and Recover Deleted Space but this doesn't correct this.
