I'm in the western part of North Carolina which came through Hurricane Florence pretty unscathed. She was a tropical depression by the time she got here so only minor flooding and wind damage in this area. Nothing that affected me. The eastern part of the state is suffering with severe flooding though. Thanks for asking!
As for screen resolution, it can be a major problem and the only options are lowering the resolution or using some sort of magnification. My default resolution is 1920x1080 but but Pegasus Mail was just about unusable so I lowered it to 1600x900. That has worked just fine other than Win10 routinely asking if I want it to fix my blurry apps (I haven't seen a blurry one yet).
Go to www.pmail.com and download the English v4.73.
The only thing unique about Pegasus Mail running on Win10 is that it will not work if installed inside of either of the \Program Files directories. This is due to the built-in file protections of Win10 that prevent modification of files inside of the \Program Files directories.
If you wanted to direct all .ru messages to the spam folder you could create new mail expression filter (when folder is opened) that checks the From header for .ru and moves those messages to spam.
With Pegasus Mail closed, use a file explorer to navigate to your home mailbox directory then look for a file with a .PMO extension. These are auto-saved, draft, or stationary messages. Move it out of the directory for future deletion once the problem is solved. There may be a corresponding .PNX file if an RTF version was saved. Remove it as well.
In the event you have multiple .PMO files and know some are stationary that you wish to keep you can open them with a text editor. The content should be enough to tell you what they are but if not, look at the SY: entry. SY:1 indicates stationary.
Awesome! that's exactly what I wanted. I knew it was just some simple little thing I wasn't finding.
Thanks!
(also, though I won't want to switch back, I noticed that the LIst button was gone and there is no Preview button - how would I go back? But then I found that clicking on Folders shows the Preview button, which goes away and is replaced by the List button if you change to Preview)
The only piece of this question that I think I can help with is the contacts part.
Pegasus Mail can import a tab delimited or tagged text file into and addressbook so you should be able to export from Thunderbird and then import into Pegasus Mail. The format may be an issue though. I believe it's normal to have to manipulate the exported data to get it on the correct format. The way to determining that format is to view a test addressbook exported from Pegasus Mail.
I had already run a Search Filter so I had a "Recent search results" sub-folder with the relevant email messages. I then moved them to the InBox as suggested and I closed P-Mail. I then moved *.CNM files out of c:\pmail\in into another folder and renamed them all to TXT and then I subsequently copied them all as well to .EML files.
That was a bit sloppy but, it did all that I needed.
You are dealing with what many of us are who have high resolution monitors. The fixed fonts of Pegasus Mail display too small requiring lower resolution or some magnification. Fonts are adjustable for the message editor pane and reader pane, each individually but he fonts used in the new message headers, configuration screens, and a number of other places can not be changed.
I'm not sure about what files you moved from Pegasus directory.
Junk-Folder: right click the folder -> folder information. Tells you filename and location. But if no mails are shown in the folder, (filetype PMM), you may have moved/deleted the indexfile (PMI). So right click the folder and re-index it.
On a new installation you normally simply should have moved the content of your mailboxdirectory to the new installation. Now it's plenty of handwork to do - especially if you had trays in your folderstructure :-(
You're not doing it the wrong way. Each identity needs to know which POP3 and SMTP server it should use. It's not uncommon for multiple identities to use the same host. An example would be if you had two gmail accounts. You would need two POP3 hosts, one each hosted mailbox, but only one SMTP host for the gmail server. You then have the option to configure one identity to check both POP3 hosts or use two identities so that sends and replies reflect the correct sending address. Both identities would be configured to use the same SMTP host but different POP3 hosts.

Thanks, now i understand.
I tried enabling the basic spam filter and the program hangs but eventually it works, i'm going to suffer through spam, i guess.
As I have working user mailboxes, accessible from my login, can I just set myself up as another user? I haven't actually made a clean install, just upgrades.
I think so, but pointing the new user to the previous mailbox without cleaning out somehow is not an option, so you should only move files (folders and address books, e.g.) step by step for figuring out which one of Pegasus Mail configuration files (such as *.pm and *.ini) are causing the hang. If doing so we would be interested in the result(s) as well, of course. Most of the involved files are simple text files which I'm sure you can figure out yourself. For more details about filenames and extension see .
in WIN 7 - several things I tried to do were very frustrating. there
were files I could no delete, things I could not make desktop icons for
since I did not have "administrator privileges"
This
is most likely a symptom of installing Pegasus Mail in either Windows
\Program Files\ or \Program Files (x86)\ directory. These ones ar
protected by Windows requiring elevated access rights for security
reasons. Since Pegasus Mail also writes to its directories you *must*
install in it into any place outside of these paths. Recommend would by a
subdirectory of \My Files\ (if this is its proper name in English)
which also will be backed up by Windows' own backup handling.

Sorry that my post was confusing there. I am not having any problems with Pegasus in WIN7. the problems with deleting files, etc are all just things I'm finding in WIN7 and have no relation to the Pegasus install or any of its files or directories. I'm just having a hard time getting into Windows 7 in general Very happy with Pegasus! and I appreciate the attention here. glad to see a helpful community here!
Alright - that's fixed. I called Earthlink tech support. Great that they answer phones on Sunday and were willing to dig in a bit. They took over my machine remotely. Tech had never heard of Pegasus but it was all in the settings for Sending Mail, including some Security settings.
Weirdest thing just happened - Pegagus said it had to close and would send an error report. I get back in, continuing to delete old mgs, etc, was going to look at the settings to mention here, and they are gone.
As IDW says, I've been going nuts trying to get Pegasus to work with AT&T. They're changing over to YAHOO servers and seems to be causing some issues. Brian Fluet has been trying (heroically!!!) to get me running again. Made these changes in Pegasus' settings and that seems to have done it. At least for AT&T. But you might consider checking your IP if it's different:
Incoming Mail (POP) Server
Server - pop.mail.yahoo.com Port - 995 Requires SSL - Yes Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server
Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port - 465 or 587 Requires SSL - Yes Requires TLS - Yes (if available) Requires authentication - Yes [log into SMTP server using POP3 username and password - pop.mail.yahoo.com]
Your login info
Email address - Your full email address (name@domain.com.) Password - Your account's password. Requires authentication - Yes
Thanks for the reply. that file is WINPMFUA.PM in the mail directory. I specifically did not copy that when moving to the new machine. I figured it would just make a new one. And it has made a new one, with the 5 or 6 addresses I have used in the last couple of days. I deleted it. No change.
As for XP - it does say on the Versions page that the current version is for XP and later Windows. I wonder if I might need to get an older version?
I d/l Pegasus 4.73 intending to install and go from there. I printed the Yahoo setup instructions and any relevant Pegasus info, too.
I installed the new version and it installed with all the correct AT&T/Yahoo settings. I am astounded. I uninstalled my old ver 4.63, installed ver 4.73 and it received but still wouldn't send mail. The error box that pops up almost immediately ends with "mailbox unavailable". Huh?
All the settings are set (automatically when I installed ver. 4.73) but I have no idea what it is telling me about a mailbox. I didn't change any mailbox settings in Pegasus. Here we go again.... [:(]
ETA: I checked a box in the Security section of Pegasus to add more SMTP settings which seemed to make it all work (FINALLY)! Since a few days ago Pegasus seems to be working properly again. I made all the changes recommended by AT&T to function with their new Yahoo servers coming on line soon. I appreciate Brian Fluet's heroic efforts to nursemaid me to the solution! He helped guide me and we got it working like it used to. I am gonna tentatively mark this as SOLVED.
