Thanks for the suggestion.

Somehow (magically?) the contents now show, and can be edited! (I changed nothing.)

I only posted on the forum the second time contents was not visible, several reboots after the first occurrence, Go figure!

That .PMM file is a folder file.  You indicated earlier that you found message files (.CNM) there as well.  The existence of both makes me wonder if it's a mailbox directory.  What does your Help > About Pegasus Mail > Info show for paths to the home and new mailbox?

Might D:\PMAIL CURRENT be an added mailbox to your folder list that you are filtering to?

Martin,

When did this start for you?  Are freezes occurring at the same time as the temporary hangs just worse?

I updated my Win10 machine just prior to seeing your post so am curious if it is this update that has caused the issue.  I'll certainly post again if my hangs are worse.

Thanks Brian. As with most computer issues, a reboot seems to have done the trick. But I'll keep your advice in the back pocket for the next time this happens!

Unfortunately not in headers, only in the body (as noted previously in this discussion).  The headers use fixed fonts hardcoded in the program.  Fixed fonts are also used in a number of other places (configuration windows come immediately to mind).

Workarounds to the small fixed font size on hi-res monitors are to increase screen resolution or use a magnifier app.

You configured (or it's default) Pegasus to apply timezone correction to the maillist so that Pegasus shows all mails with date converted to your timezone. Hmm - translated directly from german Pegasus if a message marked in mailölist:

Message - > [x] Apply timezone corretion

If you open the mail or print it, Pegasus shows the real date-header (with local time of the sender), but that should be "March 14, 2018, 03:44 +0400"

Hi Brian,
Strange stuff always happens when you clone a drive! I did just that the other day and the font size in Pegasus Mail shrank.
On cloning a drive? Strange ... I assume, Windows changed its resolution!
How do I get it back to where it was? Or even better, how do I choose an optimal font size for my monitor and display?
If Windows has changed the resolution, you have to change the size of fonts in Pegasus. You have a blue "f" in the iconlist. Click there and change the size of the fonts. To see the result correctly, close once the subwindow for "folderadministration" (sorry - directly translated from german) and reopen it.

bye   Olaf

If you copied files any configuration files from the old install they likely contain invalid paths unless the original install and the new install have identical paths.  The prompt for a user is common when Pegasus Mail is confused by an invalid path somewhere.  Adding to that is the concern over whether both installs are as single-user, multi-user, or one of each.

If your old install was not in a Program Files directory then post back because that move is pretty straightforward.  If it was, your best option (only reliable option IMHO) is to do a clean install to C:\PMAIL, configure it just enough to get a mailbox directory created, and then copy ONLY data files from the old install using the whitepaper as a guide.

And then there's the fundamental question of How Bcc Works. I believe that the underlying mechanism is that you ALWAYS send the email to your mail server with the whole list of intended recipients attached. This saves you sending the message 5 times if you have 5 people Bcc'd. It is a concession to efficiency. If some mail-servers are not set up to do what I think everyone would expect, then I would call that a badly managed mail-server.
I believe Pegasus Mail sends two mails if you have BCC recipient(s) - one with just the TO & CC addresses, and the other with BCC addresses.
Correct, unless you have Suppress BCC field listings in outgoing mail checked. If so, all you have in the headers is BCC: (Suppressed).

Hi Paul,

can't you start it or does Pegasus not completely open?

In last case I assume you sent a big attachment and/or many recipients. Pegasus freezes, because it takes a while to generate the outgoing mails and send it to mail provider. Seems Pegasus didn't finish sending and on start tries to send again.

Have a look at your mailbox directory, find any file with extension PMX or PMW and perhaps a file PNX with same filename. Move them on closed Pegasus to another directory, then start Pegasus.

If this works, problem solved. I'm not shure if mail was realy sent by Pegasus - perhaps ask the receipient?!

Just a quick update... my suspicions were correct in that my inability to send mail was a direct result of issues at AOL / Verizon. At this point things appear to be OK with an occasional hiccup.

Thanks

Han van den Bogaerde's site has excellent resources for Pegasus. There are a couple other abbreviated lists of Pegasus keyboard short cuts:

 http://short-keys.blogspot.com/2012/05/pegasus-mail-44-keyboard-shortcuts.html

And another abbreviated one here:

I think Han's is the best.  http://www.vandenbogaerde.net/pegasusmail/pk_frame.html

As you suggested, I sent a message to beta-reports with a copy of the CNM file as an attachment.  I WAS able to copy the file to another location and could rename the copied file at will.  The same holds true for all other CNM files.  However, Pmail has the original of this spam message locked for some reason.  I may be wrong, but I am assuming that forcing Pmail to lock it is some kind of spammer's trick and I wonder if it is able to do anything else to my system.

Settings were set correctly and for last 2 days all seems well.(If you recall I did say weird as it has worked fine for some time) I am going to call this solved as there are other folks with much bigger problems.

Going to keep your help answer Brian should happen to flare up again. Thank you Brian AND Olaf I do appreciate

The folder structure is stored in a file named HIERARCH.PM which is located in your home mailbox directory.  Restoring a backup of that file will restore the folder structure to that point in time.

If no backup, it must be rebuilt manually.
