I am new here and I don't want to be rude or too much demanding.
As we have quite a few subforums, does the forum have a possibility to get new posts in each of the forum/subforums get marked in some way ? The count of topics is shown, it's interesting but not helpful.
What I am envision is, to have a mark of some kind next to each forum listed on the right side. This way, the user would know where new posts are submitted and one does not have to look through all of the forums for new posts.
I am new to our community forum and to Codoforum. In regards to notifications, I have set mine to email and noticed this morning/afternoon that the notification for a reply post came in 4 hours later as the post was submitted.
I am not looking at the time shown on the forum, I was looking at my email log and had looked already 4 hours earlier at the reply post.
Is this the way it is, or was there something else maybe ? Or am I the only one ?
do you know whether there's an option to enable reverse sort order of threads, i.e. most recent on top? It becomes quite annoying having to scroll down two or more virtual "pages" (especially since you have to wait for the arrival at a "page break" before you can continue) to get to the current posts for replying in threads with more than a couple of replies ... or is it just my slow machine I'm waiting for ...? But anyway, I would really like to have such a user option.
Hi Forum Admin, Very often when calling one of the subpages of the community forum, I get the following error message:
In that case I have to go back with the browser back button followed by repetition of clicking the subpage in the right hand menu. At the second try the page will be loaded mostly correctly. This is annoying since it occurs so often.
Can Codoforum create a proper URL link in the HTML version of the notification emails?
Currently the plain text version looks like this:
You can view the topic by clicking https://community.pmail.com:443/index.php?u=/topic/11469/mercury-32-v4-90-released/post-52917/#post-52917
and the HTML version:
<br /> You can view the topic by clicking https://community.pmail.com:443/index.php?u=/topic/11469/mercury-32-v4-90-released/post-52917/#post-52917<br /> <br />
Of course PMail will force the plaintext into a link automatically, but expects the HTML version to have the relevant href tags.
Rolf, Please look into what the options are for including the program and category in all emailed notifications. Currently, notifications of new posts to the Mercury and Pegasus Mail subcategories only reference the subcategory name without reference to Mercury or Pegasus. Worse is that email notifications of replies only contain reference to the discussion topic. The link is valuable but once there, a reply to a discussion requires making a mental note of where the discussion is, logging in (which redirects to the home page), and then navigating back to the discussion. It would be nice to know where the post is so as to be able to login first and then navigate to it.
first of all thank you for reviving the PMail forum. Then immediately all the best wishes for the new year to all of you here.
My topic: Today I read a thread that now has reached a second page. The buttons to switch the pages are thereby under the current page (rsp. currently in between).
I think the buttons should also be above the respective text page.
at first, thanks for the sign of life of Pmail and the announcement that a new version of Pmail will be released soon. I had some doubts in the last months that Pmail even will be continued after the long time without any news.
I have a few point which can be improved on the forum page but not sure if the codoforum have this functions. But at the moment it is very hard to find any new post within the forum without opening any category and subcategory.
requests:
filteroption or view to show only new or "unread" posts (Update: By setting the notification level min. to 2 on every wanted category it is possible to have an overview of new posts - see the bell at top "notifications")
possiblity to see new topics for categories on overview page, perhaps in the counter like 2/256
change favicon for the forum site instead of showing the codoforum f (Update: new favicon is available. thx)
The live preview seems to be useless for longer posts, after some points (did not count the letters) the parts written later are faded out and remain hidden. My quick'n'dirty solution is to write my posts elsewhere (notepad++, midnight commander etc) and copy'n'paste it here.
The forum software is really slow. After changing the category, it will render all the topic messages every time. Why? Enabling the "Hide Topic Messages" setting on the right side does not work as expected. Rendering all messages in a first and hiding all unnecessary parts in a second step is a waste of time on both sides.
The counters on the right are a little bit strange. All topics are listed with 4 digits (9761 in the moment) and behind the Mercury-category "Community Discussions and Support" the couter displays 2.23k.
I'm think I'm not understanding how the Search function works. I enter my keyword in the Search box & click the magnifying glass, but nothing happens. I get the same behavior using Firefox & Edge. I am running Win 10 ver 21H1
Had an unsuccessful try to login after site relaunch, hitting the login button and nothing happens. I went via "forget password" and change it to a new temporary. After logout and new login via temporary, i tried to rechange the password. I got a red message in the left corner of the password change screen with something like the old password did not match (forget to make a screenshot) but the password was changed. I am now writing after login with the new password.
The area for "Community Discussions and Support" seems to be not separated between Pegasus and Mercury. The thread "Blank lines in From or Subject fields in received emails" exists in both.
I tried to email the moderator via emailto: moderators@community.pmail.com in last week. Today I get back a message from ISP that my email could not be delivered because "multiple delivery attempts failed".
