Thanks for all the help and suggestions, and sorry about the
delay in responding: EVENTS!.
Brian Fluet:
If I do as you suggest, it makes no difference.
This problem is confined to PDFs that are in folders.
If I drag a ‘loose’ PDF off my desktop, there is no problem.
If I copy a PDF from a folder onto the desktop and then drag
it, there is no problem.
This makes me think that it is something to do with folder
permissions, but looking at the Security tab for a folder I find that, System,
User, Guest and Administrator are all set to Allow for Full Control, Modify,
Read & execute, List folder contents, Read and Write. However, if I look at
Folder / Properties / General I find that Read-only (only apples to files in
folder) is checked.
If I check the properties of the file in the folder that is
failing to drop into Pegasus then Read-only is not checked.
If I try to un-check the read-only property in folder
properties I find that when I close properties the check mark reverts to being
checked.
If I look on the net for guidance about how to change this property,
I find an adviser on the MS blog saying that windows only uses that property to
identify folders for indexing purposes and otherwise it has no effect.
I’m pretty sure that I did not have this problem when I
first started using this machine with Win 7 about three months ago.
Joerg:
I’ll
have a look at PDF XChange Viewer, but I’ll need to check that it will allow me
to add highlights, text, and comments that are searchable, as I routinely use
all these.
