Thank you for the help. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr Stevenson. Like the rest of you he was so very helpful and gave a lot to the forum and Pegasus Mail. I didn't think it has been 4 years

This will probably be an easy question for many but bear with me I'm an old geezer.

Recently people have sent me mail such as newsletters etc. They're coming in html format

when I go to the attachment and click on html the message wording is there but various photos

that are referring to the various articles come up in grey boxes. Did I miss a setting somewhere?

p.s. I used to see a lot of very helpful support given by a Thomas Stevenson both in the forum or on past articles

when researching but have not see his name inquite some time or on the list of current support folk.

Has he just retired from doing? I hope there is no bad news to report. Just wondering

Unfortunately Thomas passed away in 2012.

Just one addition to Thomas' compehensive answer: You should not open HTML on the attachment TAB since this uses TER as the renderer instead of the specialized ones working in the main reader window. Aside from possibly not rendering properly it's known for crashing a lot on certain HTML code.
