FWIW, I have a shortcut on my desktop that triggers a Free File Sync of my USB thumb drive to a location on my local drive.  I try to run it every night after shutting down Pegasus Mail.

Don't attempt to maintain a live sync.  Interference with Pegasus Mail file updating can cause problems.

I am using Pegasus 4.72 on a USB stick (so I can use it with -roam option both in windows and Linux with Wine).

I've just had the following issue. I was working a mail folder, contained inside a filing tray, where I usually save work e-mails, with Wine. Pegasus suddenly crashed. After reopening Pegasus, the folder seemed empty.

When I looked at the MAIL folder, the PMM and PMI files where now empty too... (formerly, they contain more than 80 MB of e-mails).

My backup is from a few days ago... Is there any way that I can recover the files (or at least the last e-mails?). I tried re-indexing the folder but it didn't worked.

Your only option is to take a backup of mail folder(s) and restore from your backup.

I've seen Pegasus Mail crash quite often over the years but have never known a folder to empty itself. Are the pmm and pmi files presently on the stick 0KB?

If an antivirus or corp security app flagged the file for containing virus or threat it would have erased the pmm/pmi files.

Yes I have had this happen when an e-mail triggered response within a corp network, deleted the folder. With the added benefit of a phone call from corp network security.

The PMM was 0 KB, whereas the PMI was about 0,1 KB (I am not sure if the information inside PMI was created when Pegasus crashed, or after I re-opened the program.

I have already restored my last backup, but since I lost e-mails of the last few days, I wanted to know if there was a possibility of any other copy of those e-mails inside Pegasus path.

No security software is enabled in that computer, is Ubuntu-based (14.04) and I haven't enabled any kind of antivirus or anti-malware.

I will contact my institution's mail server in case they keep a copy of my e-mails somewhere... And I will make backups every day now!
