Hi,
I have managed to install both Mercury and Pegasus onto my laptop. And have successfully managed to fumble my way through configuration where I am using an SMTP server thats one I own on a hostgator server. I have configured pegasus where it reads from Mercury using 127.0.0.1 for both pop3 and smtp.
I am receiving mail from all my loads of different email accounts in Pegasus so thats huge progress for me.
Now though, I cant get the SMTP server working properly when I send non local mail out. I can send using the mercury 127.0.0.1 where it uses my email server BUT when I receive test emails they all come back as sent by julie@localhost.
Im guessing its in pegasus settings and I have tried under tools / internet mail options / sending (SMTP) I have ticked "use an alternate email address for the smtp envelope and have put in the external email I want identified as the sender but it made no difference
I have also tried under the write new email "special" tab and have entered the email address under "send replies to" but it still came thru having been sent by julie@localhost
I have serached the internet high and low for days now and am about to start pulling my hair out and / or banging my head on the desk LOL
Please reply with simple plain english.. Like with not just what I need to change but where exactly I go to do it. The technical lingo doesnt register to me just yet being new to this.
many thanks
Julie
