The wrapping of cell content is the major issue but I will copy table content out a message for pasting into Excel so picture that being done by my message recipients as well.

Yes.  Six columns, often +30 rows. 

I often have the need to insert the region of an Excel spread into a new message (from template).  Copy/paste works but column width is lost requiring manual manipulation in the message.  Does anyone know of a work around? 

Spreadsheet content is being added to the body of the message as supporting detail. Sending an attachment is not an option.

   Have you checked out what sorts of data formats are available on the clipboard once you have copied the cells from Excel to the clipboard ?  I don't have Excel, but I have LibreOffice.

I suspect you will see alternative formats to the cells, ie Excel, or plain text, or perhaps even html   You would need to attempt a Paste Special to be given a list of formats on the clipboard.

I have the "always paste plain text" option enable so must always use Paste Special but within Pmail the options always the same, formatted text and the three plain text options.  I have Libre office here at home so tested a paste and found the column width was maintained but not the font.  The font in the spread is Arial 10 as is the new message font in Pmail but the pasted font is Arial 12.  I hadn't noticed a font change at the office so will need to look at that.  Who knows what is going on with the column widths.

I usually take a screen grab and post it as an image - that way you know the formatting won't be changed for the reader.

This is business correspondence so my preference is for the table to be clear and capable of manipulation by the recipient. 

The one thing that makes the manual column width adjustments overly tedious is that when adjusting a left column the right columns don't slide requiring that column widths be adjusted from right to left and if you mis-guess on the overall table size needed you have to start with the right most column again.
