hi
i experienced some troubles with clamwall: before and after reading community posts, trying many setups, i was not able to get mercury to self control clamd.exe. eventually i:
- downloaded clamav build from the site suggested by http://www.ararat.cz/eng/show.php?clamwall: http://hideout.ath.cx/clamav
- copied in bin (where clamd.exe and freshclam.exe are) the conf files suggested by http://www.ararat.cz/eng/show.php?clamwall: http://www.ararat.cz/download/clamself-config.zip
- wrote a simple batch to start, in order, freshclam.exe (to update clam before starting clamd), then clamd.exe, and finally mercury.
- configured and enabled clamwall for this setup, obviously.
this works. it always works if you start clamd.exe externally.
my question are:
- there any other tricks to try out?
- i see from the logs that for each scan the sequence invoked is:

<sender>now, what is the purpose of calling freshclam, after "starting" clamd..? does it update clam?

if not, i have to reglarly (and manually i guess) update clam through freshclam... AT command i suppose.

<sender>any better known way, folks?

bye all!
