In your POP3 host configuration...

General tab:  Confirm port 995 and timeout set to at least 90 seconds

Security tab:  Confirm only the "Via direct SSL connect" option is ticked

Everything was fine when I turned on my computer. I got my emails and sent a few.

Then this!

23 Jan 2017, Connect to 'pop.gmail.com', timeout 15 seconds.

Now I can't send or receive. 

I got a virus update (Avast) and a restart which I did. but the problem happened before that. 

Turned off firewall: no Change

Checked various other threads and followed suggestions but no change.

I turned off the router and on again and the problem has gone.

Nothing like switching something off and then on again to cure the majority of IT woes :) 

Well, at least I got mail yesterday. New day Same problem. To which turning off stuff hasn't fixed.

Same error please help me.
