Clicking on URLs

Michael and Martin,

thank you for your help. I believe the problem has been resolved. I installed the latest version, 4.72 and it was the same. Then I went to Tool.Options.Hyperlinks and changed the destination browser to IE and now it appears to be working. I had tried this before with no luck but I was still using the old version. Anyway, I can double click on URLs etc and I can now view them. Personally I'm still convinced that it is the latest version of Firefox that is the problem, at least with my machine!

I don't believe that I'm in the right area however I can't find the particular query that I read before. I am having problems reading URLs in Pegasus 4.70. I am running Windows 10. There were some instructions given how to get around this but they did not work. I believe the problem occurred when Firefox automatically downloaded the last version (32 bit) version 51.0.1 although my computer is a 64 bit machine. I have tried IE and the result was the same. I am also unable to access the "Visit the Pegasus Mail User Community" page from the help menu and I have to go to Google to do this. Has anyone any suggestions or comments. I have print screen shots of Pegasus info.

Larry,

If Firefox is your system default browser but is not automatically being invoked by links in mail messages then it could be the system browser default has been munged. This seems to be a recurring problem in Win10. The solution is to change the system default browser to a different browser (Edge or IE) then change it back. I suggest a restart in between but don't know for certain if that is required.

Another option is to tell Pegasus Mail what browser to invoke by specifying its command line in Tools > Options > Incoming mail > Hyperlinks.

I am experiencing the Microsoft maintenance upgrades resetting the default browser to Edge, so I did what you suggested and set the invocation command to Firefox. I have actually discovered the command line to invoke Edge, it is not at all intuitive so I have not broadcasted it yet, as it is quite complex :-(

Thanks very much for your help. Let me share with you what I discovered.

First there was a previous post regarding this subject, I

think from Martin, however I couldn’t find it. One of the things suggested there

was in the “Display Remote” linked graphics drop down list chose “automatically…”

Now I made the changes you suggested all with no

success. I already had Firefox entered

in the Hyperlinks command line. Any time I clicked on a URL in the text of a

message a blank new tab opened. However and this is weird, when I right clicked

the URL a prompt came up saying “open link in Browser” and there were two

options: IE was first and Firefox was underneath but it was in bold face type.

When I clicked on it, a new blank tab opened. But when I clicked on IE, the URL

opened as it should. Again however, it will not open anything beginning with a https://,

only those URLs beginning with a “www”. So I can’t make any sense out of this.

What can I do next.

I just tested a couple of https urls that I sent to myself,both as hyperlinks and as the full url. All of them opened in Firefox with a doubleclick so I don't know how the https is affecting what you are experiencing.

Some other things that come to my mind:

Are these hyperlinks or full URLs
If URLs, is line wrapping breaking the URL?
If URLs, what happens when you select the entire URL then right click and choose "Open selection as hyperlink".
If you right click and select "Copy link target to clipboard" does the result appear broken? Does it work if you paste it directly into FF?
If you open the message in a browser, do the links then work?

FWIW, I running Win10 1511, FF 51.0.1, Pmail 4.72 configured to use the default browser (the "Find browser automatically" option).

Personally I think the problem lies with FF. This has all started with the latest version of FF. When I'm working with Pegasus, FF keeps wanting to re-start and send a report. When I browse with FF, I can no longer select Google has my search engine. In fact even though Google is selected, it is being ignored and I have to type in Google. In Pegasus I have the default browser configured as FF but IE keeps being selected. Would it help to upgrade to 4.72. I am running 4.70 other wise I am running the same as you are. I have screen shots of practically everything to do with options. BTW, I can not connect or open Community for Pegasus Mail and the other site from the help/about menu. When I do click it, nothing happens.

Always the first thing to try, additionally you might want to update BearHtml and IERenderer to their respective latest versions as well since they've even been updated after the 4.72 release. Their links are provide with this post.
