My original IMAP profile is now obsolete, but I can't delete it or reorder the other profiles so my preferred one becomes the default connection.

Is it safe to simply edit the imap.pm file in the mail directory?

PM files are plain text files so should be editable.  With Pegasus Mail closed, make a safey copy first then give it a try.  S uggest having a full backup of the mailbox directory just in case.

That didn't work.  The file is editable, so I deleted the two lines for the old IMAP server.  But when I start pegasus, it doesn't automatically connect to the correct IMAP profile, like it did with the old one.  It will connect if I double click it, of course, but I want it to connect by default.  So there must be something else that indicates which profile is the default one to use automatically.

I tried changing the order, but that only changed the order of appearance in the IMAP profiles list -- it still connected automatically to the old server.

Automatic connection is controlled by the "Always connect to this profile at startup" option located in the Settings tab of the IMAP profile.
