If ever PMail stops being updated , is there some way of  taking all my stored emails etc to another email programme, or are they lost for ever when the last version of PMail no longer works with the latest Windows?

I don't think that will be happening anytime soon but it is fairly easy to move stored emails from one email program to another.

Thnks, Jim. How do you go about it? I thought these PMM and PMI files were PMail-unique

To turn Pegasus Mail folders back into individual email messages take a look at my NOTESPLT app.  http://community.pmail.com/files/folders/utils/entry3962.aspx  It will create CNM files in your Temp directory. These can be imported into your new email application. They will probably be needed to be renamed before being imported.   Email messages include any attachments so are complete.

I need to do this with all 14 Inbox folders and  10 outbox folders for the last maybe 20 years?  Just asking

It is certainly a lot easier and faster to create a new folder in Unix Mailbox Format as provided by Pegasus Mail (see below) and copy or move all messages to such a folder, then import the mbox folder into other email applications - if you don't want to do it via IMAP which would require an external mail server. There's an add-on for Thunderbird, e.g., which can import MBOX folders.

Are both of these methods that can be used by the normal simple-minded user like me, rather than you computer whizkids who understand these different formats and files and what you can/can't do with them?

(I'm not wanting to do this now - just trying to future-proof my emails)

You're the only one who can really figure out for you, I'm afraid. But there are pretty likely detailed step-by-step tutorials on the Internet somewhere for importing, and for exporting from Pegasus Mail I have already provided the details in my suggestion below (or above depending on your post sort order here). Does this latter sound difficult to you?

Thanks for explaining it is possible anyway - that's all I wanted to know for now - I'd searched on the forum, but didn't find anything. Maybe I'll be dead before I need it........we can but hope!

The last version of PMail definitely works with the latest Windows. It is proven on all my PCs running Windows 10 Creators Update (1703).

I know - I don't mean the current "lastest" one - I mean if PMail ever stops being developed and Windows carries on being developed, sooner or later, PMail will no longer work on it
