Mails disappeared on the way to an IMAP folder
There is one known condition where drag and drop doesn't work (with attached mailboxes); there may be others.  Loss of data is not a known subsequence of this failure though.
Copy and Delete is the method now and it works (or at least kind of, sometimes it stops, some mails can't apparently be copied for whatever reason).

Anyway just expected that, if Drag&Drop is implemented, it wil work.....

Thank you anyway

Hi all,

I am currently migrating a users mail system from POP3 to IMAP. But while moving mails from Inbox folder to the IMAP Inbox folder they just disappeard :-(All mails disappeared from the local folder  but just 10 mails reached the new folder location. The rest (about 400 mails) is simply gone. :-( Same happend with mails in the Copies to self folder... How can I get them back?

Thanks in advance

Managed meanwhile to restore the missing messages from a Windows snapshot of the mail folder Still wondering how it could happen, that messages got deleted from the origin folder without appearing in the destination folder while moving them by drag&drop..... [8-)]

I don't know what happened but a couple of thoughts...

 • Copy then Delete is safer than Move especially when the move is from or to a remote location.
 • Use the move button instead of drag and drop.  There is one known condition where drag and drop doesn't work (with attached mailboxes); there may be others.  Loss of data is not a known subsequence of this failure though.
