Address book problems

I have an address book with about 45 entries. Last week I needed to change the

name and email of 3 of the entries (most of the other info for those 3 stayed the

same). After I edited the 3, I found that the original names remained, but when

I went back to edit them the correct, updated names and email were there. If I

sorted the addresses by key, the updated names appeared. I was away a couple

of days and, now, the address books (all of them, not just the one changed) will not

open either by F3 or the top menu. The distribution lists don't open either. If I start a new

email and click the address book icon to the right of the name entry, I am taken to the

address book, but all of the changed entries have the old names and emails. At this point

I can't get to the place where I can edit the incorrect addresses.

Any suggestions will be gratefully accepted.

I don't know if "will not open" means the "Addressbooks and distribution lists" window does not appear or if it means that the window opens but when you select an addressbook it's content is empty.

If the window isn't appearing click the Window pulldown menu and see if it is listed.  If it is, it's open but not visible.  Use the Window > Tile or Cascade option to make it visible (you might want to close all other open windows first so you don't have to resize them).

If the addressbook content isn't appearing try reindexing it.

It's not uncommon for addressbook changes like you attempted to not immediately appear.  A close/reopen of the addressbook window usually fixes it.  A reindex is the next step.  Worst case (and rare), a delete/recreate of an entry is required.

Thanks, Brian, for the help. It was the first case (open, but not visible).

It's certainly great to have knowledgeable people available who are

willing to help. [:)]

I still have the first problem mentioned:

I have an address book with about 45 entries. Last week I needed to change the

name and email of 3 of the entries (most of the other info for those 3 stayed the

same). After I edited the 3, I found that the original names displayed remained, but when

I went back to edit them the correct, updated names and email were there. If I

sorted the addresses by key, the updated names appeared.

Somehow the list of names displayed in an address book doesn't want to

change even though the entry itself has been changed.

I experience the same problem.

Pegasus Mail is supposed to automatically reindex the addressbook after a change is made to a name or key field but that does not appear to be happening.  A manual reindex of the addressbook is required.

Edit:  I think I misspoke.  A reindex will fix the display but so will just selecting the name of the changed record.
