Pegasus Hangs When Creating a New Folder

To possibilities for fixing the problem:

  • temporarily connect a seconf monitor again and move Pegasus to screen 1.
  • The coordinates for windows of Pegasus are in STATE.PMJ in section [General]. Most times you will have success  by removing all entries with V4...=... on closed Pegasus. But afterwards you have to position and resize all windows of Pegasus as you want them to be.

Using v4.72.572 on Windows 10

I have 4 users using Pegasus and 3 work perfectly and have for 10+ years. Recently, 1 of the 4 has developed 2 obvious problems:

 1) When opening a session, Pegasus opens but cannot be seen on the screen. I have to go to Task Manager, select Pegasus, and choose "Maximize" so that I can use it.

(If I close Pegasus and reopen it, it opens on the screen fine.)

 2) Once it's opened, if I attempt to add a folder, Pegasus hangs and I cannot close it without going to Task Manager and using "End Task"

(If  reopen the session, it again cannot be seen on the screen and I have to go to Task Manager, select Pegasus, and choose "Maximize"again.

Any suggestions?

PS: I have a saved copy of this user's PMAIL/MAIL folder from a few months ago, but I'd hate to have to attempt to recreate what's been added since then.  THNX!

With the exception of this statement, "If I close Pegasus and reopen it, it opens on the screen fine.", it sounds like Pegasus Mail is opening offscreen.  I also sounds like the hang when attempting to add a folder is because the popup window for the add folder process is not visible.  The solution to the main window being offscreen is to edit the pmail.ini file.  With Pegasus Mail closed, make a safety copy then modify the "Application window rectangle =" entry to "Application window rectangle = 0 0 800 400".  This will cause it to open in a small window (800x400 pixels), top left.  You can then resize it to your liking. Note: If you have multiple identities there will be one for each.  You might see one that obviously has invalid values, like negatives or 5 digit numbers.

As for the invisible popup window, I don't know of a setting in Pegasus Mail that controls this.  There is post about this in the discussion below but I can't make sense of the key strokes suggested.  Maybe you can.  The topic is about moving messages but the problem is the same.

You might very well be right. I'm migrating from a 2 screen setup to a single one for the time being and Pegasus might be try to open to the missing screen.

Thanks, I'll try this tomorrow.

Your suggestion fixed the opening off the screen problem! Fixing the New Folder problem was trickier,

Your suggested link went to a thread that had me editing the STATE.PMJ file, but that didn't work. I eventually substituted a STATE.PMJ from a different user and it fixed the problem.

So far, Pegasus seems to be the only program that has a problem going from 2 screens to 1 on my new computer.

Thanks for your help!!!!!
