Can you describe what is happening please. Also is this occuring for every attempt to mail out messages, or just one message.

Also from your posting I notice that Bearhtml is quite out of date. This should not have anything to do with your problem as it is not involved with sending mail, but you can update your Bearhtml from

This isn't the dump, if you used the MiniDump extension for creating one you're supposed to just complete and send the message created by MiniDump for being sent with Pegasus Mail. Aside from the contents you posted (which, BTW, disclose details about your system configuration to the public) this message has an attachment which actually contains the memory dump to be analysed with debugging tools provided for software developers. Additionally it's always helpful to provide as many details as possible about the actions and conditons preceding a crash as Martin asked for.

Hello Michael,

It happens every time I want to sent or forward a message.  Also the minidump file can’t be send by Pegasus Mail. Everything worked for years but on the 18 th dec I had to change the login mailserver for sending mails with encryption security (SSL via STARTTLS). It worked the first time but afterwards everything in Pegasus works fine only I can’t send mail from Pegasus.
I tried every possibility: with or without mercury, with different outgoing mail-servers; a new stand alone installation of Pegasus. Mercury itself works correct and can forward incoming messages.
I use windows 10 pro - 10.0.16299 and get an application error code ID 1000.

See annex.

Eric.

Hello again

You need to contact the owner/company that you are using as your SMTP mail sending server, and obtain the required Port number and security settings to be able to use their server.

For instance I have to use Port 1025 and StartTLS

Hello Martin,

I used the right port numbers and settings from different servers but nothing works out.

Eric.

<p>Hello Martin,</p><p> I used the right port numbers and settings from different servers but nothing works out.</p><p>Eric. </p>

OK so now is time to start investigation in detail.

Step 1.  Go to Tools/Internet Options and check box that states "create Internet session logs"

Step 2. Repeat the SEND action that caused crash.

Step 3. Edit the log file TCP-yymmdd-hhmm-nn.pop in the directory ADMIN/TCPLOGS to delete or overwrite the password value on the PASS line, so you can share the file with others

Step 4. Review the content for error messages and resolve if possible. IMPORTANT remember to uncheck the checkbox you checked in step 1.

Step 5. If step 4 didn't give any definite reasons, then you can share this file on Community in this thread.

Martin

I have to clear out that Pegasus Mail crashes before the communications with the extern server or Mercury starts and even before the mail is set into the queue sending list of Pegasus.

Eric.

I'm afraid the only sufficient way for investigating this is by analysing a crash dump: Since you cannot send emails from Pegasus Mail here's what you can do instead: If you see a similar message in Pegasus Mail as you posted here in your initial post go to the attachment tab of the message editor (before attempting to send it) and figure out the filename of the attachment shown there. Then open your TEMP directory in Windows Explorer ("C:\Users\eric\AppData\Local\Temp" according to your first post) and look for a file with the name of the attachment. You can then use a different email client or your email provider's web interface for sending the file to "beta-reports[at]pmail.gen.nz" reusing this thread's subject for the email subject ("PM crashes while sending mail") so we can tell your message apart from all the spam collected by the beta-reports account. Trying to update IERenderer to its most recent version might help as well.

Yes, the dump indicates precisely where the crash originates from, I've notified David Harris accordingly asking for a reply to this thread.

Eric, Michael forwarded me the crash dump information covering your problem. My best suggestion is that the filename of  your addressbook is too long. According to the crash dump, your addressbook has the filename "GTW2RST5_NONKEL_dec-12-132629-2017_Conflict.PMR", which is considerably longer than anything the program was designed to handle.

Please don't get me wrong - the filename itself is quite legal, but Pegasus Mail has been written over a very long period of time, and you've struck a piece of very old code that expects filenames to be much shorter. I've made a note to extend the allowable filename length in that piece of the code, but in the short term, your best solution is to rename the addressbook files (there are two, one with the extension .PMR, the other with the extension .PM!) so the name part is significantly shorter. When you do this, make sure you preserve the extensions, and that both files have the same name part.

Please let me know if this does not fix the problem for you.

Cheers!
