Images don't print

I think I understand the issue now. In preview mode, if I select a message that has a gray box and click the Pegasus icon I get a list. I can see the image by selecting Load Remote Images. And Ctrl+Shft+U works but Ctrl+Shft+P does not.

Thanks to all who helped me through this. BTW, I've been a Pegasus user for many years and prefer it to any of the other ones I've tried. I can only hope there will be another version soon.

Use the IERenderer

Unless the version of Pegasus Mail being run is extremely old, IERenderer will be installed by default.

Larry - Assuming images are visible and not printing: Are you using Ctrl+Shift+P to print?  If not, try it.  This uses the html printing capabilities of IERenderer (another assumption is that it is enabled)  Try it then report back.  We can advise further based on the results.

While an image is being displayed, key in Shift and F1. At the bottom of the screen you will see what html renderer is currently in use. It will be either Bearhtml or IERenderer, and they will show which version of the software they are running. Please report what you see and we can then try to help some more. Also as Brian reported you should use Shift + Ctrl + P to invoke the print as the Print menu button is for invoking the internal Pegasus Mail printing routine, which is not too good at printing anything other than simple text.

I am using v. 4.72.572

Images are not visible from the preview mode. When I open a messages the images are visible. Pressing Shft+Ctrl+P doesn't seem to do anything. There is no print menu with or without "print as".

Beneath the Pegasus Mail menu are a row of icons on a toolbar. The last icon at the right edge (using the Business User toolbar) shows the Pegasus horse over an Internet Explorer E. Click this and a drop-down menu should appear. One of the options is print current message (Ctrl+Shift+P). If you can use it, it will display a preview with images (assuming you have configured Pegasus Mail to download the images), and any other HTML formatting.

That works!

I also note that before I can even see images, I must open the email. The images don't show in the preview mode. But they do if I open & print it the images show. BTW, the Pegasus icon appears in all toolbars.

That is the IE Renderer.

Glad you are able to print.

As mentioned above there are several ways to print, and each employs different methods to render your document before it is sent to the printer. The built-in print processor (File - Print, or the Print icon on the toolbar), is fine for simple messages, but when it comes to html/tables/image you need to use the IERenderer. My first post gave you the link to the latest version - it is regularly updated by IDW, so the first step was to make sure your installation was up to date. The next step was to use it and see if your message would print with the images.

Sometimes, the IERenderer's option to print is greyed out. So, if you are unable to use the traditional print method, and IERenderer is not available, you have another alternative. In this instance you can right-click the message and choose to open it in your favourite browser. You can then use your browser's print option to print the message.

Pegasus Mail can seem weird at times, but it really is one of the best mail clients in that it usually offers several methods to achieve your goal.

I installed Version 2.4.10.3 and am still experiencing the same behavior. Should I still be getting gray boxes where images are in Preview mode?

There should never be any difference whether your message is displayed on the preview's reader pane or within a stand-alone reader window, i.e. before downloading any images you won't see any on both display screens, after downloading you should see them on both display screens. This applies to both HTML renderers, and if it doesn't work this way there's something wrong.

Larry,

I'm jumping in just to insure that you are aware that the grey boxes you see are place holders for remote images.  As a security precaution, Pegasus Mail does not automatically retrieve remote images by default.  You have the option to load them on a message by message basis, whitelist specific sources (images will always load in messages from those senders), or allow globally (NOT recommended).  Consider doing a search of the manual for "show pictures".  The search will hit on a number of pertinent topics.

One option you probably won't hit on is the option to right click in the preview pane and select "Open message in a web browser".  I'm extremely cautious when it comes to email so when I want to see the images I open the message in Firefox with the NoScript add-on running.

Also, a message that is having print issues when printed from with Pegasus Mail may print fine if printed from a browser.
